Cantinho Alberto Caeiro

We offer an off-grid experience at a a fantastic location: Directly on the seafront in the middel of Arabida Natural park. You can walk to the beach in 20-30 min and there are some great walks in the area. The sunsets are amazing.
The area is very rural but Lisbon is within easy reach if you are happy to take the bus. The village is 3 km up the hill and has a mini-mercado, a cafe and a restaurant.
Sesimbra is the nearest town. It has a boulevard, shops and a market, as well as outdoor centres.
We love our pets which consist of 4 dogs, 5 cats, 9 chickens and a goose called Carlita.

Nuno is passionate about global politics and music. Suze is a busy bee: working remote (and has to go back to Holland occasionally), loves her chickens, garden and handicrafts. We are easy going and don't start too early. We eat little meat (Suze tries to be vegetarian).
We are def. not a party place and drink little to no alcohol.

You will stay in a cute little caravan in a quiet corner of the land. It has a simple kitchen, lights and a USB to charge your mobile phone (bring a US-C converter if you need one). Computers can be charged near the house. You have your own dry (compost) toilet and we share the shower. We expect 4-5 hours of work, 5 days a week. In summer work involves mainly household type of tasks and sometimes jobs such as cleaning the chicken coop / garden work / painting etc. In winter we generally do not have volunteers unless we need help with a specific project / tasks / skills (Carpenters are always welcome to send us a message).
Because of remoteness, we prefer a couple or 2 friends.
NB please ensure that your (travel) insurance and tetanus vaccination are up-to-date.

Our stay here was absolutely incredible experience, and huge part of that was thanks to Nuno and Suze. They are truly exceptional hosts, so warm, caring and welcoming. They were always there to give us clear guidance and support, which made all the tasks feel straightforward, rewarding, and completely stress-free.
A special mention has to go to Suze’s cooking. Every single day she prepared delicious, hearty meals that we genuinely looked forward to, and sharing those moments around the table made the stay feel extra special.
The property itself is a true paradise on earth. Thank you! ❤️

It was a truly wonderful time, and we got a great break from the city noise. The daily sunsets made every evening special, and we loved running into all the animals throughout the day—dogs, cats, chickens, and a goose! Suze's lunches were amazing (we'll never forget them!). The daily tasks were really easy, and Suze and Nuno were always understanding and helpful. The place where we stayed was a cozy camper where we felt right at home. Thank you for everything, and we hope to see you again one day! We recommend it to everyone!

This is exactly what you dream of when you think about the perfect volunteer experience. Suze and Nuno are amazing hosts, different from each other but guided by the same kindness and care. They always made sure we were doing well and enjoying our stay. After just a few days, the caravan and the whole place felt like home. The nearby beaches are beautiful, and there's plenty to explore on foot. The work was easy and enjoyable. We're truly grateful for this unforgettable experience. I learned a lot of things from the tasks that I did to the person I can be on nature. I will miss everything!

This place is amazing! We stayed for a month and a half and are so grateful for the time we shared with Nuno and Suze. They are kind, caring, and always clear about the daily tasks. The food was delicious and filling, and whenever we cooked, they provided everything we needed. The tiny house was cozy and perfect for us. Good to know: it has a composting toilet and no running water in the caravan, we carried water in jerry cans for washing dishes and cooking, which made us more mindful about our water use.
It’s a little far from the town, but close to the beach. We had a wonderful experience!

I have no words to describe how incredible it was; it has been one of the best experiences I've had. Suze and Nuno were like family during this month I spent with them. Infinite thanks for letting me live this experience; I already miss the mornings with the chickens. They also have beautiful cats and dogs. Pinho is special. Really grateful; I felt I never wanted to leave. The best volunteering 🙏🏻
