Casa dos Ipês
We are a welcoming Minas Gerais family and we love hosting people from different places, telling stories and sharing histories, learning together and living simply.
Our homestead is a refuge of peace, simplicity and connection with nature. Here you can slow down, listen to the birds, pick fruits straight from the orchard, cook with herbs from our garden, pet and care for our kittens, make friends with our chickens, smell the scent of damp earth, read in the shade of a tree or practice yoga with a view of the green. And all of this is just 1 km from the city's bustle!
We value and cultivate joy, presence and care in all our activities, so all tasks are done at the pace of the farm, calmly, respecting rest and leisure periods, but also with a lot of dedication, commitment and care.
We encourage you to spend your spare hours enjoying our space, getting to know the city, its people, its territory and its many stories!
We are a few steps from Praia da Guaxindiba and about 20 km from the charming Vila de Itaúnas — famous for its golden dunes, the traditional forró pé de serra and a huge cultural wealth - the region has the highest concentration of quilombo communities in the state! 🎶🌊
We are going through a restructuring moment, with many organizing tasks, cleaning and small repairs to open new spaces - both to welcome guests and more volunteers.
If you are looking for a peaceful place to be and have a lot of willingness to share, we are here, with open arms and hearts! <3

It was excellent, I felt at home, Mr. Albino, Mrs. Rita and their daughter Carolina are blessed people, they welcomed me very, very well, I was able to learn a lot from them, the contact they have with nature is fantastic, the care and affection they show in preserving nature is contagious, I was only sad because it passed too quickly, but if another opportunity arises I would definitely return.

The volunteering at the sítio was a balm to the heart... Albino and Rita are very adorable and dear people, as are their daughters, Carolina and Virginia! We were warmly welcomed, received and treated during the time we were there! The working hours were respected, we had space for suggestions, agreements and conversations, denoting, also, flexibility. In addition, we could know the city and its corners and participate in a meeting in a quilombo community together with Carol, it was wonderful! With its fruit trees and more, the house is a nature refuge in the middle of the city!

These were very special days at the family's refuge! From the moment we arrived, we felt truly welcomed by Carol, Albino, and Dona Rita. We also met Virginia, and it was a great joy to share moments with all of them. The volunteering involved taking care of the site's maintenance, organization, cleaning, and the garden... the schedules were respected, and they were incredibly flexible and made us feel completely at ease about it. The location is great. I carry with me the affection of this dear family, who is an example of simplicity and love :) <3

Albino and Rita are the kindest hosts I’ve ever had. I was so warmly welcomed and felt very lucky to join the family’s Easter celebrations. And what a lovely family. They have created a little green paradise on their land, growing all kinds of food and taking care of animals. They were generous and caring and I had a much needed escape and restful period staying there. I had freedom to organise my day, cycle to the beach, my work hours were respected. I learnt so much with Rita and albino, being so patient with my level of Portuguese. i felt at home. See you again one day! Gratidão amigos

We were very well received at the farm. Rita and Albino were kind to us and explained all the tasks well, which included renovating a room in the house, repairs to wooden furniture, care of the kittens and chickens, and watering the plants. There, we got to know and try fruits and vegetables, in addition to enjoying good moments surrounded by nature. Carol, the couple's daughter, also guided us on the activities and shared knowledge about nutrition and sustainability. The schedules were respected and we had autonomy to organize our workday.
