Castlehouse B+B

Castlehouse is in the third generation of my family and was originally built by my grand father, it is a house that oozes character and old world charm. My house has a sea and mountain view and is just a five minute walk to the beach, Renvyle where I live is on the Wild Atlantic Way in north Connemara one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland. Castlehouse is located in a small village that has one small and one large shops, another village 1.5 km away has a couple of pubs and restaurants. The bus service runs from Letterrfrack and I can drop you there if needed. Connemara National is 5 km away and Kylemore Abbey is 8 km. Any volunteer that comes will have the chance to improve there English and immerse themselves in Irish culture and our way of life, and you will have the chance to meet people from all over the world. Each volunteer will have there own private room with free wifi, but depending on how many volunteers I am accepting you may have to share with one other person during July August .You will be given three good meals a day and have two days a week off, you will also have the use of my mountain bike during your stay. I also have a small sheep and Connemara pony farm and you are more than welcome to come along and see how things are done..

I have lived in Renvyle all my life apart from the five years I spent in boarding school. Cycling is my main hobby and the Renvyle area is well suited to it. I am a keen cook with an interest in experimenation I have been running a B+B since 1990 and I love meeting people from all over the world..I enjoy foreign travel and have visited most European countries. I am quiet an easy going person and I treat everybody with respect.

My travel partner Rudá and I spent 2 weeks at Castlehouse, we had some conflicts in the 1st week due a lack of communication from both parts. We expected a time schedule and some clarification of what were our tasks in the B&B, which John hasn't provided, but later on we asked and during the 2nd week I believe we got along better. During the 5h of work you will help serving breakfast to guests, clean the kitchen after breakfast time, iron many sheets, strip all 5 rooms beds, clean the guest rooms bathrooms and hoover everything, it's not difficult and all meals are provided. John is a good guy

Great experience and location as it's a quick walk to the beach. If you love to the ocean and enjoy swimming this is a great place to be. Jhon, the host is an amazing cook and has an adorable dog.

Overall, it was a great experience for my first time doing Worldpackers.

Castlehouse has been my first experience in worldpackers and the best choice I could ever have done. John is a great host and to work with him is easy. I've learned about Ireland history and culture, and I've discovered amazing places!! And I've learned much more about myself. I'll come back to Ireland for sure, the atmosphere all around is indescribable, you have to live it by yourself. I highly recommend this experience!! No doubts, just do it!!
And don't hesitate, ask me anything you want to know and I'll try to help you as much I can.

I spent 3 wonderful weeks in Castlehouse, which I can only recommend!
John is very nice and kind, and it's true, very good at cooking ;) We could have many conversations on many topics and I learned a lot about the history of Ireland and Irish culture thanks to him.
The work is fair, and I could enjoy of my free time to discover the amazing Connemara region and do a lot of hiking and cycling!
Everything was perfect, thank you again and I'd like to come back one day with pleasure!
