Castlehouse B+B

Castlehouse is in the third generation of my family and was originally built by my grand father, it is a house that oozes character and old world charm. My house
has a sea and mountain view and is just a five minute walk to the beach, Renvyle where I live is on the Wild Atlantic Way in north Connemara one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland. Castlehouse is located in a small village that has one small and one large shops, another village 1.5 km away has a couple of pubs and restaurants. Connemara National is 5 km away and Kylemore Abbey is 8 km. Any volunteer that comes will have the chance to improve there English and immerse themselves in Irish culture and our way of life, and you will have the chance to meet people from all over the world. Accommodation is a mixture of private and dorm where you will share with just one other person and this is only in peak season. Sorry lads but I only accept ladies as I don't have enough separate accommodation. You will be given three good meals a day and have two days a week off, you will also have the use of my mountain bike during your stay.
I also have a small sheep and Connemara pony farm and you are more than welcome to come along and see how things are done..

I have lived in Renvyle all my life apart from the five years I spent in boarding school. Cycling is my main hobby and the Renvyle area is well suited to it. I am a keen cook with an interest in experimenation I have been running a B+B since 1990 and I love meeting people from all over the world..I enjoy foreign travel and have visited most European countries. I am quiet an easy going person and I treat everybody with respect.

Thought there were few communication problems at times, John respected the agreement to the t, the workload is fair aaand he’s a really good cook (best curry I’ve ever had)
Shoutout to Evelyne, his sister who was super sweet!
As for the area, it’s simply incredible, the scenery is breathtaking and there’s always a place to explore and a mountain to climb!
I went off season so it wasn’t as busy as it is in the summer which made my experience even more epic and solitary. It’s a bit isolating but you can reach the nearest town quite easily since John puts a bike at disposal if you ask him.

Volunteering at the BnB was an amazing experience!
Being surrounded by the most beautiful landscapes and nature.
The work is straightforward and fair, I was a great balance between contributing and enjoying the surroundings.
John is a great cook, he was respectful towards our preferences and eating preferences.
The minor issue for me was the occasional lack of organization and cleanliness in the common areas (kitchen and dining room).
However, the volunteer’s room was comfortable, private, and cozy!
Overall, it’s been a memorable and rewarding experience, that I’ll recommend!!

I spent two weeks here as per agreements.
The work is easy , the tasks are as described in the profile. The owner explains and teaches you how to do it. Schedules were respected. It starts at 9 am or 8 in the morning, for 5 hours.Jhon picked me up at the Letterfrack bus station. During the time spent there I went to visit some very beautiful places close to Tully, and the owner gave me his bike.
Remember that it takes a spirit of adaptation, and that is not strictly a holiday.
The places is a bit isolated, but into the amazing cliffs and close to the sea.

I am extreamly disapointed and very surprised to receive a negative review from Alessandra. I was under the impression that she was content during her stay and at no stage did she give me any feedback ,and if she had I would have tried to remedy whatever was bothering her. I totaly honoured my commitments as per my profile to her and I showed her good Irish hospitality as I do to every volunteer that comes to my house.
