Cerro azul’s surf house

If you’ve ever dreamed of living right in front of the ocean, this is your chance. 🌊 Our home is just steps away from the legendary wave of Cerro Azul, where you can surf every day, explore ancient ruins, enjoy fresh seafood, and experience the authentic vibe of a peaceful fishing town.

Volunteering with us means more than just helping — you’ll be part of a family project built with love and recycled materials, powered by solar energy and our own water well. In return for your support with small tasks like building, gardening, or helping us improve our English, you’ll enjoy an immersive cultural experience, flexible schedules, and plenty of time to discover the beauty of Peru.

Here, you’ll find a balance of adventure, community, and relaxation — making it the perfect place to leave a mark while creating unforgettable memories. ✨

We’re a Peruvian family who started this dream three years ago, when my father began building our sustainable home by the beach. We’re passionate about surfing, simple living, and sharing our culture with people from around the world.

As a volunteer, you’ll be treated like part of the family: we’ll cook together, share stories, and support you in exploring everything Cerro Azul and its surroundings have to offer. We believe in kindness, respect, and positive energy — and we want every volunteer to feel welcome, safe, and inspired during their stay.

I would highly reccomend this volunteer opportunity to other world packers. I appreciated the patience I was given while learning new tasks, and walked away with new skills. I felt like part of the family and made great friends with the other volunteers as well. In addition, I was able to surf every day and enjoyed relaxing around the fire at night. There is also plenty to do on the weekends. The camping area and kitchen / bathroom faculties are nice as well as the plentiful ingredients provided for breakfast. I look forward to returning to the home Azul one day.

An incredibly warm and loving family made this a wonderful experience! They were always there for me, especially when my health wasn't well, and supported me at all times.

The work is indeed very exhausting and physically demanding, but the family is very understanding, open to feedback, and always committed to improving the volunteers' experience.

I am very grateful for this beautiful experience and would wholeheartedly recommend Casa Clara!

A month at Casa Clara in the home Azul was one of the bests part of my Peru trip. Oscar, Chani, Mariasol, and Gustavo are incredibly kind and generous -they made me feel like family, not just a volunteer. It's important that volunteers are aware: it's real construction and gardening work most days, not a chill beach gig. Additionally, the home Azul is a very small town. But if you want solid Spanish practice, real connection with locals, and good surf right after work, this is the spot. It's an immersive, hyperlocal experience where you get to be surrounded by beautiful waves and amazing people.

I can recommend the experience if you want to improve your Spanish and make local and international friends. The place is very close to a surfboard rental.
To be transparent and for the safety of other female travelers, I have to say that as a woman I didn't feel comfortable for part of the time. When I arrived, during the first 10 days I was the only woman there and I wasn't warned in advance. They also made jokes at my expense; it made me uncomfortable.
I spoke with Oscar; he was very understanding, and afterwards the situation improved. That's why I rate the experience 5 stars.

My experience at Casa Clara was great! We learned a lot about basic construction thanks to Oscar and the others; the atmosphere is pleasant and warm, Oscar, Chani, and Mariasol were always concerned that we would lack nothing, so we are very grateful for their hospitality.
