I’ve taken a look at your profile and I think you might be a good fit here. Can you go into more detail on your skills and on when you are planning to come to Rio? When would you like to start, and for how long could you stay?
We have plenty of volunteering opportunities at our hostels and with the NGO we are partnered with. Edumais is an NGO that teaches English and entrepreneurship to kids here in the favela. Welcome. We would like to welcome you to our family, a crew based on the love of traveling, the love for Rio de Janeiro and for the love of sharing. Come to know about us better and be even closer to our wonderful culture. El Misti is a chain of hostels with 19 years of experience and 5 branches that make Ipanema, Copacabana and Búzios even more special. The passion for travel has made German, Dany and Lulo come together to build each unit with a unique identity that matches each traveler. Here, everything that is shared is much better, so we combine our travel and love experiences to provide the most authentic life experience to other travelers. Our mission is to transform the dream trip of our guest into reality, building a relationship between them, our marvelous city, other travelers and other social causes. I met some amazing volunteers in my week there. It was a good multicultural experience witht the other volunteers and guests. Otherwise, the dorm for the volunteers needs revision. I did not feel very welcomed and I was constantly being watched with suspicion for some reason by two permanent staff members. I wasnt there long enough to review more of the experience.

Often, we only realize how special an experience was once it's over. During my stay at Misti, I felt lucky every day. The hostel feels like a big family, where everyone welcomes you warmly and makes you feel at home from the start.
Besides its perfect location in Ipanema, the hostel offers many activities and opportunities to meet people. A special thank you to the staff, especially the manager, who is not only excellent at his job but also a wonderful person. Thanks for making a dream come true by letting me be part of the team. A big hug to all the guests I met. See you soon!

Simplesmente O MELHOR LUGAR DO MUNDO! Eu vim pro El Misti já sabendo que era legal e concorrido mas ainda sim minhas expectativas foram superadas. Além de ser lindo, do lado da praia e MUITO bem localizado, tem socialização e festas todos os diaaas! Mas a MELHOR parte é a energia surreal desse lugar… aqui parece que tudo é mais leve e alegre e você fica contagiado por essa magia no ar. Sou extremamente grata pela oportunidade de estar aqui e até estendi minha estadia hahaha. AMO e recomendo!

Infelizmente o lugar para mim era inabitável…
O quarto era um depósito do lado das caixas de máquinas e caixa d’água com mofo e umidade…sai do local fiquei com medo de pegar uma doença de pele…
A estrutura dos hóspedes realmente é boa e não chega nem perto do que eles oferecem para pessoas que trabalham com voluntariado. Todo mundo foi muito simpático comigo sim, porém nunca conheci um lugar tão ruim para fazer esse tipo de troca…além do mais conversei com a gerente sobre isso e me falou que nada seria trocado…enfim uma pena porque localização realmente é muito boa!

Agradecemos por compartilhar sua experiência e sentimos muito que a troca não tenha sido suficiente para você. Gostaríamos de esclarecer alguns pontos. O quarto de voluntários fica, sim, no terraço, longe dos outros quartos dos hóspedes, o que garante mais privacidade. Nossa equipe de limpeza cuida diariamente do quarto e do banheiro, mas também pedimos que os voluntários ajudem a manter a limpeza e cobramos isso. No entanto, reconhecemos que, às vezes, o cuidado com o próprio local de convivência pode não ser o ideal por parte de alguns voluntários.
O quarto tem 8 camas, ar-condicionado que funciona muito bem, e até um roteador próprio para garantir uma boa conexão de internet. Além disso, o quarto possui janela e porta para permitir uma boa ventilação. Sabemos que a troca pode não ter atendido suas expectativas, mas muitos viajantes valorizam bastante essa experiência. Estamos sempre abertos a melhorar e agradecemos seu feedback.

I absolutely loved my stay at El Misti. The location is perfect, only 2 minutes from Ipanema beach away and walkable to many things. You get free entry to many clubs, which even enriches this experience!
I felt very warm welcomed and accepted very quickly by the employees. If you need specific changes in the schedule, there were always making it possible. I enjoyed every day here and will definitely come back!

Marie was an incredible volunteer, we would definitely recommend her. She helped us a lot!! both in bar duties at night and leading activities for our guests in the morning.
Very smiling and kind, making it a nice experience for everyone.
