Finca La Furriola

Hello there, dear friends!
We live in a paradisiacal place near the city of Granada and at the foot of the Sierra Nevada, where we are developing a beautiful permaculture and artistic creation project. We love sharing with people from various places around the world who arrive with joy and respect, eager to collaborate and learn from our culture.

We have an independent volunteer house next to the Domo, and we are in the midst of nature; it is also very easy to reach the village of Dílar, it is 15 minutes on foot and in 40 minutes you can reach the city by public transport. You can enjoy delicious spring water and, if there is fruit on the trees and vegetables in the garden, you can also enjoy them. We also do a weekly shopping to provide all the foods necessary for a basic vegetarian diet; the rest, such as chips, chocolates, etc., each person buys for themselves. It’s very easy because in the village there is everything: a small supermarket, the Thursday market for fruit and vegetables, a bakery, a fishmonger, a pharmacy...

I could mention several things that I found unacceptable, but I will highlight only two. It turns out I injured my back while tending their olive trees and fruit trees. I had to go to a physiotherapist. I told them about my situation, and they didn't pay attention to what was happening to me. This situation created a fairly unpleasant atmosphere of tension that needed to be clarified, because I say they are not malicious. The second thing is that, given the tense situation, there was no moment for us to talk about how we were each and to be able to resolve this misunderstanding.
I'm sad that this experience ended this way.

Hi Javi, it hurts us to read this. We talked about your injury for a while when you came back from a weekend away and you told us you were in pain. We told you to take the rest days you needed; we always say that taking care of yourself comes first. If you remember, you were chopping wood without taking care of yourself, without anyone asking you to. Since this happened, you have stayed for a month; we are surprised that you have stayed so long not feeling comfortable, just as we are surprised by this comment.

Caroline is a total sweetheart. Yes, we would have loved to spend more time with her; that said, it has been wonderful. When she wrote to us, everything was full and we talked about the possibility of her coming with her tent, and she did. She camped on the property, using the guest house for the bathroom and the kitchen, and she was very comfortable. She has helped with many different things and has brought joy to the volunteer team and to us!

César is great, he is a wonderful person, very positive and energetic. His presence is fun and he gives one hundred percent to whatever he does. He has helped us by building a materials shed and he knows how to handle work tools very well. He has met local people and has also enjoyed the city of Granada, which is very close here; he has been able to practice other languages and share Spanish with people from other nationalities. He is a person with commitment and leadership!

Alfonso is part of the family. He has been here for many months and it has been a truly wonderful living arrangement, helping us with many different things, adapting easily, sharing his gifts and learning new things. I see in him a great leader and a person who knows how to immerse himself in the local culture and enrich the places he inhabits with his presence. Having him nearby is really a great gift!
