Firas House
We enjoy sharing experiences and learning from every traveler. Firas House is a space where people feel at home, we help each other and even cook together. More than a guesthouse, it is a family home.
Shira is the manager and host of the hostel; her main goal is to contribute to local cultural development, and she has created a small home music studio that is still under construction. The idea is that all volunteers contribute their input and help us redesign the space. Each volunteer, according to their skills, decides to split their 2 hours of work or accumulate them during the stay, fulfilling the final objective which is to support the development of the studio and of the hostel.

Yachira and her mom are amazing! They instantly make you feel welcome and a part of the home. If you're looking to learn about Cuban lifestyle, culture, and art, this is the perfect opportunity. The house is really comfortable and clean, the food was delicious, and the location is great. They are super laid-back and flexible, more focused on sharing ideas and culture rather than following a rigid work schedule (the work is basically nonexistent). Yachira is the best tour guide of the city and took me around to all the amazing sites, making things so much easier to navigate. Highly recommend!

It has been a true pleasure meeting Yachira, Yeye, and Yemita, and I will not tire of thanking them for all they’ve helped us with; we’ve learned from them and how at home they’ve made us feel. I have only good words and you will always have a little corner in my heart and I will think of Havana as a second home 🫶🏼 I recommend this experience to anyone who wants to get to know Cuban culture, its wonderful people, its delicious food… We didn’t know much about Cuba when we went there and now we’ve become real pros at expressions, customs, recipes, films, theatres, and domino games.

The house feels like a home from the moment you arrive. Yachira and her mom are pure love; they welcome you from the first moment like one of their own. Breakfasts and meals in general with them are full of energy, communication, and understanding. Both care a lot about your well-being and help you with everything they can and more. Yachira also proposes cultural plans such as theaters, concerts, the art factory, walks through downtown Havana, etc. We were really sad to say goodbye; the house will always have a little space in my heart.
