Our vision is to provide every guest and volunteer with a welcoming space where they can feel at home, connect with others, and enjoy the laid-back vibes that make Palawan special.

Who We Are
Our team at Guni Guni is a small but tight-knit group of locals and travelers-at-heart who believe in the magic of hospitality. We come from diverse backgrounds—some of us are lifelong Palawenyos, others are passionate wanderers who fell in love with the island and never left. What unites us is our shared passion for creating a relaxed, positive, and meaningful environment.

We bring a blend of professional experience and good energy to the table, with each staff member contributing unique skills—whether it's running the front desk, preparing meals at our bistro, or mixing up creative cocktails at the bar. We love swapping travel stories, sharing local insights, and learning from the people we meet.

How We Treat Volunteers
We believe in fairness, mutual respect, and open communication. When you join us as a volunteer, you’re part of the Guni Guni family. Here’s what you can expect from your time with us:
Supportive and Understanding Staff: We’ll guide you through your tasks and make sure you have all the tools you need to succeed.
Flexible Schedules: We know the importance of work-life balance, so we’ll work with you to create a schedule that gives you plenty of time to explore Puerto Princesa (and other towns in Palawan) and enjoy your stay.
Respect and Inclusivity: We welcome people from all walks of life and treat every volunteer with kindness and respect, valuing individual contributions no matter how big or small.
Community Vibes: Expect shared meals, game nights, and occasional beach or city outings with staff and guests—because we believe the best experiences come from connections.
A Rewarding Exchange
In return for your hard work, we offer free accommodation, staff meals(or discount at our bistro), and insider tips for discovering Palawan’s hidden gems. But most importantly, we want you to feel like Guni Guni is your home away from home.

Volunteers at Guni Guni are treated not as workers but as collaborators and friends. We strive to create a place where everyone feels comfortable expressing themselves and contributing to the positive atmosphere we cherish. We do prefer solo female volunteers.

By volunteering with us, you'll become part of a fun, laid-back team dedicated to creating unforgettable moments—for our guests, our community, and you.

What a lovely experience I had at the hostel! As a volunteer, you have a lot of freedom when it comes to organizing activities for the guests, which makes it easy to explore the island yourself at the same time (go on a waterfall trip together, on a motorbike loop, etc.). The staff is amazing and really looks after you. The same goes for Isis, she is wonderful and incredibly kind. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

My first volunteer experience ever, and I can honestly say I had the best time. I met new people every day and got close with the staff and the local people as well. I'm especially thankful to Isis for being so accommodating and for giving me time to explore Palawan too. I'm also thankful for all the amazing staff and everyone I met during my stay, they all made this experience unforgettable. I would definitely do this again and would absolutely come back!

What I have experienced in the hostel Gun was really nice. I have met people around the world, different cultures which means a lot for me. Due the typhoons we couldn't do the tours but I have tried to do different activities in Puerto Princesa. People say it's just a city but during the volunteer experience I had my own routine which I shared also with the guests. the hostel has a good location as well. It was my first volunteer experience and I did enjoy it. Thanks the hostel team.

I had a wonderful time at the hostel I am so incredibly grateful for Isis and all the staff that helped me throughout my time here. Everyday you meet new travelers and all kinds of people from around the world. The location is right in the city so there is a lot to do but there is not a lot of beaches or nature surrounding the area. It is just a short drive to it though. Everyone I met was so kind and hospitable. The food is amazing! And I just could not have asked for a better experience.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience at our hostel! Doshia’s efforts in facilitating activities, assisting guests, and supporting the front desk have been invaluable in creating the warm atmosphere Guni Guni is known for. While her contributions were outstanding, encouraging her to take more initiative in engaging with guests could further enhance our vibrant community. We truly appreciate her work and we are sure she’ll continue to grow and make an even greater impact.
