Hermanns Haus

Dear volunteer,
my house used to be a historic, traditional style Bavarian farmhouse in the Bavarian mountains (Alps). There are idyllic lakes in my area with crystal-clear water, ideal for swimming, surfing and sailing. We have a SUP and a kayak with which we could go boating.
There's a nice river next to our town which is perfect for rafting.
We have lots of bike-trails - one is even leading up to Austria, which you can reach within 1 - 2 hours by bike.
In winter the area is ideal for skiing and snowboarding. There is a huge ski-resort 15 minutes from my house.
It would be great if you could cook and help in the household. You also can work in the garden or do some painting in and at the house. You should work about 3 - 4 hours a day.
We are not far from Munich. There is a train every hour, which takes 30 - 45 minutes to Munich.
My son and I would be glad to teach you how to prepare fresh yoghurt, kefir, bake organic bread or cook Bavarian food and make you acquainted with the Bavarian way of life in a typical traditional upper-Bavarian village with its numerous local festivals.
I enjoy playing the piano. Of course you can use it, too. We do a lot of outdoor activities like jogging, bicycling, swimming, skiing, diving, tennis, kayaking.
We care a lot about our environment. That's why eating organic food is important for us and we try to lead a sustainable way of life. We are not total vegetarians, but - mostly for spiritual reasons - we eat meat only very rarely. Ecology is extremely important for us. That's why I installed 2 photovoltaic systems on our house.
Our volunteers will get their own nice room with balcony. They can use one of our mountain bikes.

It would be great if you could cook and help in the household.
You also can work in the garden or do some painting in and at the house. You should work about 3 - 4 hours a day, all in all around 20 hours a week.
Of course you will also get days off.

My stay there was really interesting and fun. Hermann was very nice, he takes good care of the volunteers and is very welcoming. We had a lot of interesting conversations, and he helped me with learning german. We went on a lots of bike rides together, hiked in the mountains, and went kayaking, which was really fun. The area is very beautiful and natural. After finishing my simple chores I had time to myself and to explore the area. Overall I enjoyed my stay and I recommend staying at Hermann's house :)

I had a beautiful experience in Greiling. In the mornings, I did my cleaning or gardening chores, and in the afternoon I had time to explore the area and immerse myself in nature. Hermann was kind and helpful; we went hiking and kayaking together. I highly recommend him!! the food, the hospitality and the advices were amazing! :)

I thoroughly enjoyed my volunteer stay at a small farm in a picturesque Bavarian village. Host Herman was exceptionally welcoming, always ensuring I felt completely at ease. My light cleaning and garden duties allowed ample time to immerse myself in the serene countryside, breathing fresh air and connecting with nature. I delighted in local specialties like pretzel and homemade yogurt while engaging in pleasant language exchange that improved my German skills. The peaceful environment provided the perfect escape from urban stress, and convenient transport connections enabled easy exploration.
