If you are interested in horses, love dogs and cats and want to experience country life in a beautiful part of rural Shropshire please get in touch. We are quite remote but a railway station and supermarket are within walking distance. You will need strong, preferably waterproof footwear and warm clothing is advisable for the colder months
The work involved is mainly with the horses, handling them and caring for them on a day to day basis, it is outside in all weather and physical, although not excessively so. Experience is preferred but not entirely necessary as we are happy to help you learn as you go. Please remember horses are big, powerful, majestic animals. 😊 Riding is not involved. It can be wet, cold and muddy, it can also be stunningly beautiful and a wonderful place to be. We work as a team. You will be living as one of the family.
This was one of the best volunteering experiences I have ever had. The contact with nature is incredible and moments of peace are guaranteed.
The horses are wonderful, each with its own personality. You help by giving food and cleaning the fields and stables (removing the poo and making the bed of dry straw).
The hostess and her family (husband, mother, daughter and son-in-law) are amazing people who will teach you a lot about English culture and curiosities about horses and country life.
I am extremely grateful for the experience!

Family oriented environment, where they treat everyone with a lot of respect and affection, I managed to improve my listening and speaking skills during my stay. Every day we have dinner together and the food is fantastic! Even if you are a vegetarian or vegan, they prepare something specific for your dinner. Andy loves to comment on curiosities from different regions. Chris and Phili are always in a good mood and love to recommend series/movies. Terri in particular was very patient due to my level of English and taught me a lot about caring for horses.

My experience with Terri and her family was fantastic! It was a pleasure to be part of the family and enjoy the contact with the horses, cats, and dogs. The host always makes sure to tell you the reason behind the tasks you and I learned A LOT about horses! The tasks are manual but I did not feel like they were excessive. It was actually a nice break from working in front of the computer all day! If you love being around animals, don't mind manual tasks, want to get immersed in life in England, and even learn some English, this experience is for you!
