Hostal Chiloe

You will always be met with kindness, respect, love, and openness so that you can enjoy the city with all the magic, mystique, and history that surrounds it. We want you to enjoy this experience and never forget that you lived an adventure at the gateway to Antarctica in the southern part of the world.

The hostel is a family-run venture in which we work together—Dad, Mom, and me, the one who runs it. They are here almost all day and collaborate with the different activities as needed, so everything develops in a very family-like environment.
Volunteers will be treated as friends, some even as one more member of the family, always with respect, sharing a healthy coexistence with us, especially with me, as I am at the helm of the hostel.

Hi!! My stay at Hostel Chiloé was my first experience as a volunteer and it was very pleasant. From the start, Claudio made us feel very comfortable (we were traveling with my mom), he offered us a room so we could stay together and gave us all the confidence to use the hostel's facilities. Being a family-run hostel, we felt at home.
Everything agreed upon was fulfilled: working shifts, meals, etc.
Between shifts (my mom worked in the morning shift and I in the afternoon shift, then vice versa) we were able to go out to explore Punta Arenas and its surroundings. Grateful!!!

Welcoming [Name of your friend] and her mother was a beautiful experience for our family and for the hostel. Both are kind, highly responsible people with incredible energy. During their stay they stood out for their great willingness and initiative, supporting us with much enthusiasm in both household chores and at the hostel. They were always attentive to what was needed and it was a real pleasure to spend time with them, get to know them and work together. They are the perfect team.

Hello This was my first experience as a volunteer. It's a family-run hostel. Claudio and his family were very friendly, very empathetic; I felt super comfortable during the two weeks I stayed, everything was as discussed and I would say better. The work at this time of year was very little, so I had plenty of time for myself. I formed a lot of affinity with his little nephew, the very sweet Fabian. Well. Excellent experience; I left happy with what I lived. Totally recommend it to anyone who wants to go to their hotel. I hope to return someday.

Claudio is a very kind and respectful host, willing to communicate clearly and conciliatorily.. The hostel is very family-friendly and comfortable. The schedules and tasks previously agreed upon were fulfilled. We were able to learn about and get to know the city. We had a very good stay ! Thank you, Claudio and family.

We had an incredible experience at the hostel, and it was very enriching. With Claudio we learned about how the place works, both administratively and practically, including the use of Hostelworld. It is a family-run hostel, with varied tasks between reception and cleaning. Claudio was always kind, respectful, committed and flexible in the face of eventualities, which is much appreciated. The room was comfortable and the location excellent. We are very grateful to Claudio, his family and also to Fabián; we shared laughs and lovely moments. We leave happy and with our hearts full of learnings.

We went with my boyfriend. We spent three and a half months as volunteers. The experience was intense: on one hand, the place is familiar, we never lacked food, shelter, or services, and the owners and their parents were always respectful and attentive. We learned a lot, met people from all over the world and many guests thanked us for the way we treated them. On the other hand, the working hours were not always those agreed upon and many times we were left in charge of the hostel outside of hours, which was exhausting. We would return, but with a clearer arrangement; if it didn't work, we would leave without hesitation. It was an intermediate balance.

hello. sorry, but your task was only in the mornings. from 9 to 14 hr. many times you woke up at 10 am to have coffee and ended at 13 hr and no one told you anything. because sometimes there wasn’t much work. and the other thing we always asked how you were doing. if they came for 2 weeks and stayed almost 4 months. but well..
