Hostal Karol

If you are looking for a unique experience at the end of the world, Hostal Karol is the ideal place for you. Located in Punta Arenas, the gateway to Chilean Patagonia, we offer a warm, family-friendly and multicultural environment where every day brings new stories and friendships.

As a volunteer, you will be part of our team helping in tasks such as reception, assisting travelers, light maintenance or support in common areas. In exchange, you will enjoy comfortable accommodation, a welcoming atmosphere and the opportunity to connect with travelers from around the world.

But beyond the exchange, what makes Hostal Karol special is the sense of community: we value collaboration, positive energy and respect. We want you to feel part of the family, to learn, explore and take away memories from this beautiful southern Chilean city.

Come to live an authentic experience, discover the unique landscapes of Patagonia and help others feel at home.

At Hostal Karol we are a family-run business, with many years of welcoming travelers from all over the world. We love sharing our culture, stories and the tranquility of southern Chile. Our main goal is that both guests and volunteers feel at home, in an environment of respect, trust and good energy.

Volunteers can expect to be treated with kindness, patience and camaraderie. We believe in teamwork and open communication, so we are always willing to listen and support. We like that those who arrive here not only contribute their help, but also enjoy the experience, learn something new and take away meaningful memories of Punta Arenas.

At Hostal Karol we value responsibility, respect and the willingness to share, but above all we want every volunteer to feel part of our Patagonian family.

My volunteer experience in Punta Arenas was much more than an opportunity to travel; it became one of those chapters in life that you know you will carry in your heart long after you've finished.

From the beginning, I felt welcomed, supported, and at home. I am deeply grateful for the people I met, the moments we shared, and the kindness with which I was received. Sometimes travel takes you to places you never imagined you would fall in love with, and Punta Arenas was, without a doubt, one of them.

I carry with me breathtaking landscapes and unforgettable sunsets.

Maria and the hostel welcomed me very well, I felt part of the family during the time I stayed, always very respectful.
I completed my hours and had my days off on schedule; I could choose to have consecutive days off or breaks spread through the week.
I had a very good cultural immersion, I tasted typical foods and drinks of the region, they also showed me music and dances; it was my first volunteering experience and also the first time outside Brazil, I went without speaking any Spanish and yet they treated me well and taught me many things, I highly recommend.

It was nice to return to Punta Arenas and live this experience as a volunteer; the conversations I had with Mary always had something good to contribute to my life, and sharing with her family that they made me feel part of them. The other volunteers were all special to me, thank you for everything.

I loved every day I spent here, I learned a lot about family, and that it's not just volunteering, it's not a job, but sharing life experiences. I highly recommend it! I would definitely return to this place 100%.

I have no words to express the good experience I had working at the hostel; those were days of good learning where I could mingle with locals, get to know fantastic places, and above all practice the language. Thank you.
