The Gatinho Zen Institute offers direct participation in an active animal protection project, with hands-on work, real learning and tangible impact. The experience helps shape agents of transformation, with a sense of purpose, a connection to nature, and proximity to the beach.

Come support the Gatinho Zen Institute in Arraial d’Ajuda, Bahia, and participate in a real project of care, rehabilitation and transformation for the animal cause.

You will stay in a space surrounded by nature, near the beach, integrated with the environment where daily work with the cats and the community takes place. The experience includes practical routines, learning, and contact with a more conscious lifestyle.

The Gatinho Zen Institute has been active since 2017 in protecting stray cats. It has carried out more than 1,500 rescues, more than 2,000 spay/neuter procedures, and offers ongoing guidance to residents and visitors who encounter animals at risk. The focus is not only to shelter, but to resolve each case with responsibility, strategy and a safe outcome.

Today the project is in a phase of expansion and structuring of its own headquarters. We are building a functional sanctuary with areas for rehabilitation, adaptation and assisted housing for cats with special needs, as well as spaces for operational and educational support. The goal is to create a model core of care, prevention and community education.

The work goes beyond the shelter. The work includes facilitating adoptions, public guidance, support for low-income guardians, coordination with spaying, environmental education and production of formative content. The project also develops methods of environmental rehabilitation and integrative well-being.

We are looking for people committed to routine, responsibility and cooperation. Volunteering here is practical participation in a living project, with real tasks and direct impact. It is field experience, learning and concrete contribution.
