La Bellota Ecohouse

Learn about ecobuilding while living in a sunny place surrounded by nature, close to the beach and lovely Valencia! There are bicycles here you can use to explore on wheels, and there is a bus stop nearby where you can take buses to Sagunto or Valencia. We're surrounded by orange and mandarine fields, so expect to get your dose of vitamin C!

I do my best to make guests feel comfortable, good beds and plenty of vegetarian food to cook together :)

Having been building for almost a year now, and having been trained in ecobuilding, I can teach you about the techniques I use and general bioclimatic/ecobuilding concepts.

Working hours depend on tasks and weather. The standard is Sunday-Thursday from 9h30 to 15h with a snack break around 11 (spanish almuerzo), and lunch after that. But that can change, and I'm all for flexibility, as long as we get stuff done!

The living room is finally covered with floor tiles, bathroom has a warm shower but is still mostly under construction, it should be ready in a few weeks!

My first Worldpackers experience was amazing! I met Philipine and she immediately took me to an event where I connected with locals from Valencia. Her home was beautiful, and I absolutely loved staying in the charming trailer. The food was incredible, honestly gourmet! Philipine took me to discover the nearby village, meet new people, and try amazing local food and drinks. The work was good and I was happy to learn and help. I feel very lucky to have had my first experience with her and her project. Thanks for everything

I had a wonderful time helping Philipine build her eco-friendly house. She is kind and welcoming - not only did she teach us practical building skills, but also generously shared her knowledge of environmental sustainability. She took great care of us, making sure we always felt at home. We also visited nearby towns and joined local activities. It was a simple but grounded life in a small town, but I felt deeply connected to the local community. Highly recommended to anyone looking for hands-on learning and a genuine cultural connection!

Philippine is a gem of a person! And to this day she has been one of the best hosts I've had since I started volunteering with Worldpackers! She is a very empathetic person, I learned a lot from living with her, as she is a pleasant, fun, and open to exchange. The project of her house is beautiful, and it was very good to learn—from making the most of food to preparing clay for the walls. The experience was, without a doubt, unique and transformative! I highly recommend!!

Philippine is a very dear and kind person, easy to get along with and to talk to! The work is as expected in the construction of an ecological house, and we learned many things here about the construction processes.
So much, really, every day something new. She took us to know many places like Lagos, beaches. She welcomed me in Valencia when I arrived and sheltered me with a lot of affection. I feel that I gained a friend here in Algar de Palancia. And there was a week when she let me go sightseeing in Spain with friends I made here myself.
So I can only thank you for everything. One day I hope to return. ❤️

It was a very personal learning experience.
This project managed to capture my full attention and motivation.
I believe a lot can be learned from the Philippines; however, at the time of volunteering, it still lacks a bit more organization and attention.
In any case, I recommend living the experience.

Hi Rosario! I feel like you may have felt a lack of attention from me, and I think it's because it was the first time I hosted more than three people at once (which is actually my maximum, but I made an exception last week), in addition to my grandmother's visit that coincided with your last days... in the future, everything should be much calmer and under control (as much as possible, since managing a construction project on my own isn't easy). I'm glad you were able to take something away from it anyway!
