La Maison

Active in Greece since January 2020, ‘La Maison’ supports asylum seekers and migrants stranded on the island of Samos. Located near the camp, our space provides food and psychosocial support, and above all a sense of community – essential for restoring dignity and hope.
‘La Maison’ is a haven of humanity for everyone who visits – refugees and volunteers alike. By joining us, you’re not just helping: you’re sharing, listening, learning and building connections.
If you’re looking for a deeply meaningful mission where your presence makes a real difference, then this adventure is for you. 🤍 We ask for a minimum commitment of 8 weeks.

By joining us, you will become part of a team of volunteers with a wide range of backgrounds, supported by a caring and attentive coordinator. You will be fully involved in running the space, helping with its day-to-day operations and preparing meals and snacks, whilst sharing your talents: music, drawing, language lessons, creative workshops… Every skill has its place and makes a difference. Weekends are free so you can rest or explore the local area. Shared accommodation in the centre of Vathy is provided. You will be welcomed with respect, trust and enthusiasm, in an atmosphere of good humour, joy and incredible solidarity.

About the experience in: Samos, Greece

The organization, it's the little corner of paradise you're looking for, where we meet among human beings, no matter our origin, religion, or nationality. Here, we do something meaningful and that we'll remember for a long time. We share, we laugh, we dance. We meet extraordinary people living on an island off the beaten path. The supervision is top and the communication easy. In short, I loved every second! :)

I had an amazing second time at the organization. The work is meaningful, the time spent there is intense and rich, both with the asylum seekers and the team. The accomodations are excellent and comfortable (big house in town), the team spirit really present, the energy very healthy and positive. It really was a second home for me, and I left again with a heavy heart. Samos is a special place. It will make an impact on you, just like your work at the organization makes an impact on everyone who visits, volunteer or asylum seeker. Thank you again for this unique experience. I will miss it!

This experience cannot be explained; it must be lived, it must be felt! I loved my passage at the organization. To such a point that I re-sign for 4 months after two months spent here. The place emanates a calming and restorative energy, and from the asylum seekers passing through a united and benevolent humanity despite the difficulties endured. The team is great and the coordinator brilliant! In short, don't hesitate; all you risk is meeting yourself, losing your prejudices and discovering a vocation!
