La Tortilla Cooking School

We're a small, passionate cooking school dedicated to sharing Guatemala’s rich culinary traditions with the world. By volunteering with us, you won’t just translate — you’ll become a bridge between cultures. 🌍👩‍🍳 You’ll meet travelers from all over the globe, learn how to prepare traditional dishes, and experience the heart of Guatemalan hospitality.

Plus, we're based in stunning Antigua Guatemala — a city full of history, charm, and breathtaking views. We’ll do our best to make your stay meaningful, joyful, and truly unforgettable! 💛✨

Our team may be small, but we’re like family — and you’ll be welcomed as part of it. 💫 We value kindness, collaboration, and respect. Our chefs, manager, and receptionist are always happy to teach, support, and share their love for Guatemalan food and culture.

Volunteers are treated with care, appreciation, and friendship. Your comfort and happiness matter to us, and we’ll make sure you feel at home while making a real impact.

I came back to volunteer at the host, because I had so much fun the first time :) The organisation has improved and besides that, it was good to be back with the chefs and help out. It trully is a fun experience and you will learn a lot. I will miss this place!

Everything was great. The dormitories are shared with the hostel volunteers and the workshop. The meals are a bit repetitive, but they cover the basics, and both the hostel and the workshop are very central.
Upon arrival there was a bit of a communication gap, but Yoli was always very kind and answered my messages. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay.

I had such a great experience volunteering at the host. From the first day, I felt welcomed and part of the team. The atmosphere is friendly, the work is well organized, and the tasks are fair and manageable. I also had plenty of time to explore Antigua, meet amazing people from around the world, and enjoy the local culture. It was the perfect balance between volunteering and traveling. I'm really grateful for everything I learned and for the connections I made during my stay. I would definitely recommend the host to anyone looking for a fun, supportive, and memorable volunteer experi

My partner and I had an amazing 2 weeks at the host. You will either be translating a class and washing up, or flyering in town. Shifts are either over lunch or dinner hours. The included lunches were amazing and you eat them with the other volunteers and chefs. We also got dinners after a class if there was extra food left over.
The volunteer accommodation was very clean. and the beds all had their own power outlet and curtain. They had lockers for valuables but the main door to the dorm room doesn't have a lock.

The experience was incredible! I learned a lot about Guatemalan cuisine and the classes are fun. The work is simple, translating for the cooks and also cleaning during the classes. The accommodation isn't bad but the kitchen is poorly equipped, and the food has to be kept well because on occasions my fellow volunteers and I had our food stolen. Overall a highly recommended experience, with free time to see the area and go on excursions!!
