Lajerpote Garden

Lajer Pote Permaculture Garden, volunteers will experience a meaningful journey into sustainable living, environmental education, and community empowerment. We are located in a peaceful village surrounded by nature in East Java, Indonesia. Our project focuses on ecological learning, character building, and spiritual growth for local children through outdoor education and permaculture-based farming.
As a volunteer, you’ll help in gardening, assisting with nature-based education for kids, and creating eco-projects that support local resilience. In return, you'll be part of a warm, inclusive community, enjoy traditional food, and learn about Javanese culture in a natural and respectful environment.
If you’re passionate about sustainability, education, and connecting with local life, Madrasah Rimba is the perfect place to grow, give back, and be inspired.

We are a small and passionate team of educators, farmers, and community members dedicated to building a better future through environmental education and permaculture. Our core team consists of local youth, teachers, and volunteers who share a deep respect for nature and spiritual values.
At Madrasah Rimba, volunteers will be treated as family. We value kindness, open communication, and mutual respect. You will be welcomed into our daily routines, join shared meals, and be supported in learning local customs and language. We strive to create a warm, safe, and meaningful space where every volunteer feels appreciated and empowered to contribute.
Whether you’re helping in the garden, teaching children, or simply sharing your story, we will walk beside you with guidance, gratitude, and genuine friendship.

Pak Taufik, his wife Mba' Rohma, their family, and neighbors are the most welcoming people! After 8 years abroad, staying here reminded me how warm and hospitable Indonesians truly are. Life on their permaculture farm is beautifully relaxing. I enjoyed helping with chores, exploring rice fields, and eating fresh vegetables from the community - with sambal of course! - also Pisang Goreng and coffee! A highlight was celebrating Eid al-Adha with them—a wonderful reminder of how culturally rich and diverse Indonesia is. Thank you so much to the entire family for this experience.

Mister Tauvick and his wife are very welcoming 😊 they taught us great dishes, and they showed us around by scooter. It was really a great experience far from what we know in France. If you are looking to be immersed in Indonesian culture with locals with a great sense of hospitality, this experience is for you!

I enjoyed every moment of my stay at Lajer Pote. Taufick and Rohma are the most genuine and kind people and they, as well as all the other lovely people I met through the project, makes you feel very welcomed. I learnt a lot about local plants, culture and food and helped in the community and with teaching english. Thank you for welcoming me! 🙏🌱🙌

It was an amazing experience from the first moment! Mr. Achmad Tauvick and his wife will make sure you feel welcomed, comfortable and not hungry during your stay. 😋They prepare delicious local food from very early in the morning and will make sure you feel satisfied and good helping you with anything you need or request. The working hours were really flexible so you'll have time for yourself and for connecting with the students and people from the village. Also you can borrow bikes or the motorbike if you have a license, otherwise they will be happy to take you to visit many places around.
