Le champ du ver

I am Carole, organic market gardener installed for 10 years now. I benefit from the help of my family, and also the occasional help of my parents, to produce a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, herbs, ..
The objective is to feed families in the sector with healthy and seasonal foods all year round in AMAP, retail sale from summer to winter, supply an association store, restaurants ...

We have created two apartments in the straw / timber frame building:
one for our family upstairs with our three children (18, 14 and 7) and the other to accommodate helpers and trainees on the ground floor. This allows us to eat with the field team at lunchtime and to have time available in the evening for our children. the helpers can also suddenly have special moments together to create beautiful friendships and good memories!

As my first volunteering experience, I really enjoyed the time on the farm. I was warmly welcomed by Carole and by the other volunteers and was able to form good friendships during these two weeks. The work was a bit more than expected, since every midday we cook together, which takes about 2 hours more per day. However, that strengthens the group dynamics, as everyone comes together at noon and I learned many new vegetarian recipes. It is very rural and there are no means of transport to the next town, except Carole drives there by car.

Really cool way to learn about farming and be in nature. The work can definitely be hard. There are a lot of mold issues throughout the main apartment as well as in the caravans. The people I met were amazing and I think that will effect the experience a lot, because there are a lot of extra tasks here and you are required to cook lunch and clean for everyone on the farm - usually 2-3 hours extra work not included in the 25 hours. Carole is great, her mission is so cool, the house just needs the mold removed and more clarity about the hours! 5 people left early during my stay.

Sorry, Taliver but i really don't agree about the moisisture in the house. It's a new house made of wood and straw. when the team don't remove the hairs in the shower hole like i advice, water go out of the shower, and then it dry, and there is no moisisture left. we also had a pb once one year ago with our shower upstairs and it let on the wood and the paint some sign, but completley dry. so no pb of moisiture. in the caravan, the same, we had pb of rain coming in, so we had a roof over each.

It was an amazing experience. I learned a lot about organic farming and its importance. During the three weeks I spent there, I learned to work in the fields, but also to prepare delicious meals. In the end, I even had the courage to bake a cake :3 The work is always respected, and Carole and Mariane are always there to help you and accompany you. I felt very well welcomed and I learned a lot during my stay. I am really grateful for this experience and for everything they taught me. 💛

I had a lovely time at the farm luisant, and was honestly very sad to leave (I actually ended up extending my stay by a week because I fell in love with the place and lifestyle). The work is simple and hours are respected. Volunteers cook their own food together, and there are ingredients for basically any vegan/vegetarian dish one can think of! The farm itself is comfortable, and the surroundings are beautiful. Thank you Carole!! <3
