We are Leisy and Austin, and together we are opening our first hostel and coffee shop. I am proudly Dominican. Despite being born and raised in the city, I fell in love with El Valle three years ago and decided to live in closer harmony with nature. Austin, an American developer, moved here eight years ago and is working on creating the first eco-residential community in El Valle. We reside in El Valle on the Samaná Peninsula, a tropical paradise in the heart of the Caribbean. It's a small community that is just beginning to develop, which is why we are seeking individuals who have a calling to serve and a deep love for nature and comunity.

Overall, I had a really good experience at the hostel. The location of El Valle is truly one of a kind, the local community is very welcoming, and the hostel is very clean and comfortable. However, I did feel that some of the supervisors were disrespectful to the volunteers and staff. As this was my first volunteer experience through Worldpackers, I was a bit thrown off by this, and it made the experience less enjoyable. I think with a little more communication and overall understanding, this could be a 10/10 experience!

Love meeting everyone, it felt like a little family. I didn't realize exactly how small the village of El Valle before I arrived, it doesn't even have an ATM! But it was such a lovely friendly community, I'd love to come back one day. Leisy, Austin and all of the staff here were so friendly and welcoming, and flexible with working hours which is ideal if your a digital nomad. The accommodation is a really beautiful pod bed dorm, I love the whole wellness concept. I got to go to a couple of dance classes for free while I was there, which was really fun. Can't write everything. But it was great!

My experience at the hostel was amazing. From the moment we got there we felt right at home thanks to Leisy & Austin and all who make El Valle such a wonderful place. We made such special friends that we will hold dear for life and learned so much about the local culture. Everyday was so fun - whether we were working in the kitchen or in the hostel, your ideas and contribution are greatly valued. The hostel was a beautiful place to stay and all our needs were met. We definitely will be coming back. Much love!

My stay at the hostel was incredible! I really enjoyed working in the hostel and the kitchen and learned a lot. I felt very welcomed into the community and had so much fun getting to know all of the staff members, visitors, and other people in the surrounding area. The shared room we stayed in was very clean and spacious and we always had plenty of delicious food for breakfast and lunch. Leisy was incredibly welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. What an amazing month immersed in the most beautiful jungle nature, only 10 minutes from the beach! So much love and see you soon!
