Lucky D's Hostel

Hello,

We are a hostel in San Diego!

We are looking for friendly and fun volunteers for housekeeping and reception shifts. If you're an international traveler temporarily in San Diego for 1-3 months and have a plan to continue your onward overseas travel, we would be very happy to meet you. We love having volunteers from all over the world who enjoy sharing their culture and learning ours! We offer part time volunteer positions in exchange for your accommodation.

If you are just staying for a month you will most likely be asked to do housekeeping duties. Longer stays may be trained on reception.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Volunteers help 21 hours per week, which we normally spread over 3 - 4 days. Our guests and volunteers come from all over the world. We organize many social events and have large common spaces where everyone can meet and share their cultures helping one another to better understand our differences and celebrate them. Ideas are shared from which we can all learn and grow from.

My experience at Lucky’D Hostel was great! It was the best choice for my first time volunteering through the platform. The manager, Stephane, was very kind from the start. The hostel is in a perfect location, right in the heart of Downtown. I met amazing people from different cultures who became friends, and it was also a great way to practice my English. The volunteer work was easy, and the schedule gave me lots of free time to explore the city. If you’re visiting San Diego, I highly recommend Lucky’D Hostel!

I’ve had an amazing time at Lucky D’s Hostel! I’ve met amazing people and received unforgettable memories. It’s truly unlike any other place. There is an amazing culture of helping one another while having a great time. The volunteer work is very simple and everyone is super helpful with answering questions and helping accomplish anything that may be required. If you’re thinking about coming to San Diego Lucky D’s is the best home base one could ask for. I hope to get the chance to come back or at the very least stay in touch with all of the phenomenal people I’ve met since coming here!

It was a great experience.
In the center (near the gaslamp district)
Very simple work, you also learn a lot of things. Another interesting thing is the very nice, large and well-stocked kitchen.
Bathrooms with enough privacy unlike the Gaslamp Hostal where the bathrooms are mixed and with the doors practically open above and below. So Lucky D is definitely better.
I will miss this big family.

Lucky D's has been a fantastic experience! I was looking for people different than where I was on the east coast and that's exactly what I found - Mexicans, Brazilians, French, Japanese... I used Spanish a lot. Stephan and co. made me feel at home with clear expectations and fun events. There was lots of darts and delicious taco Tuesdays. This was my first time in California. The weather was quite beautiful; the famous palm trees were illuminated by the bright sun during the day and the sun setting at night, faded magenta, orange, peach. Check out the sunset cliffs at Ocean Beach!
