Melimoyuecocamp

I live in Melimoyu, a little village at the south of Chile. Melimoyu was the last colonization project in Chile developed by the Chilean state in 1980. Currently 35 people live in Melimoyu, and all of them started of as settlers. My family has a little hostel where workers in the salmon industry stay. I have an idea to start a tourism project in Melimoyu because it is a beautiful spot with lots to do and see-- we even have nearby a mystical volcano called Melimoyu. According to history, one can find in the slopes of this volcano a magical portal that is connected with the ceasares city.
We also started an organic agriculture project and we have 2 greenhouses
We are building an ecocampproject, it is a dome with an incredible view, now we are building 2 more domes that will be connected to terraces near the sea, we have a hostel and we work with tourists and workers from the salmon farm.

Hello, I am Pia from Melimoyuecocamp

Ecotourism project focused on sustainability and environmental care; to know what it’s about you can visit my Instagram page Melimoyuecocamp 🌱.

Volunteers live at Hostería Melimoyu and perform various tasks: organic gardens, construction, trail maintenance, and help with hostel duties.

The tasks are 5 hours a day from Monday to Friday; part of our food comes from our own gardens; there are several trekking trails you can do here; this is a very isolated place, so I recommend it for people who love nature and have environmental awareness.

Melimoyu is also a national park and has a beautiful volcano

Absolutely loved the time we spent with Pia and her family! They taught us so much about Melimoyu, the local history, flora and fauna. We felt right at home in the hostería. Our working hours were mainly spent working at the eco-domes with Luis (gracias Luis!). We worked independently, the hours are respected and they go by fast. We really felt like we were helping Pia to make progress in her project. In our spare time we went hiking, biking, kayaking and got to share in some of the community activities as well. Thank you so much Pia! Hopefully we'll be back to volunteer again someday:)

Being in Melimoyu brought us so much peace. We fell in love with that place and its vibe. The tranquility, nature, and disconnection reset our energy. Surrounded by mountains, greenery, the sea, a river, a volcano, animals, and the warmth in Pía's house, our stay was wonderful. The tasks were varied, which made it not feel heavy and the two weeks passed very quickly; helping with her project with the domes and that spectacular view filled our hearts. Thank you Pía and her daughters, Luis, and all the beautiful people we met at your inn.

We had a great time in Melimoyu :) Good flexibility with working schedules, good and meaningful tasks to help with. The surroundings are incredible and Pia can help you with what to do in your free time. We went for some small hikes and kayaking. The living situation was also really good, we had our own room with smart tv and everything.

We really enjoyed our stay with Pia! We worked with construction and worked the amount of hours agreed with a lot of flexility (2 days off). Pia lets you work independently without micro managing. The food was provided and was very tasty! You help clean the kitchen. The expectations here was not as clear. Heads up! Sometimes you eat lunch at 13 and dinner at 22 so bring some snacks (or buy is the well sorted mini market). There is also bread provided. Very very beautiful nature with dolphins and penguins! Our private room was great with tv and comfortable bed.

Our experience in Melimoyu was incredible from the first day; the people were very kind and respectful, they gave us a room and as for the food it was incredible; we ate varied and tasty meals every day. Regarding the work, we had to maintain a greenhouse and various tasks: firewood, cleaning at the hostel, cooking, etc. We learned a lot. Pia is a great host and a leader because she trusts the volunteers and the work each of them does; she is building a beautiful project in this mysterious and beautiful place! Thanks, we will come back again sometime!
