Moulin de Braux

To discover and acquire some experience with organic farming and eating, to get a chance on beautiful Fridays and Sundays to visit on your own (walking, taking the bus or cycling) or be taken to visit by car pretty surrounding places in Burgundy. To be exposed to French language and, if willing, to practice it.

We are a couple who has been family welcoming volunteers - mostly WWOOFers, but also some helpXers and as joined recently WorldPackers for the last 40 years.
Luc has been passionate for organic farming since age 18 and still is ; when young he has volunteered to develop organic farming for over 2 years in Burkina Faso.
Martine has traveled and lived in England the States and Canada (for 6-7 years all together ) and remained a traveler at heart, but is also into healthy organic eating. She is catholic, goes to church on Sundays, blesses the meals and - if you express interest - will gladly share her faith, take you along to mass with her or visit sanctuaries.
Our farm and organic life style is also alcohol and drug free... We love meeting respectful, discreet, motivated people from all over the world but are also & ALWAYS very happy to have on going visits (and sometimes help...) from our ex-volunteers...
Looking forward to meet you and wishing you fulfilling experiences,
Martine & Luc

During my stay I learned an enormous amount of things, the experience was really enriching. Luc and Martine preserve the knowledge, know-how and traditions of our ancestors, it's incredible. They are adorable, respectful and affectionate. The tasks allow you to value even more the work that lies behind our vegetables.

Aitzi is a gem: she does not count her efforts or her time, and moreover she is curious to discover and playful, whether it's toward organic market gardening or exploring the surroundings... we would, of course, be very happy to welcome her again, if she wishes, and for as long as suits her...

The work at the farm was enjoyable and we learned lots about organic farming. Luc and Martine are very honest and kind people who are very passionate about their farm and sustainability. Luc's dedication to his work is inspirational. We settled into the routines after a few days and felt like we knew what work needed to be done, which was always reasonable. We would recommend volunteering here if you have a passion for organic farming, as although the work is very enjoyable, the rest of the day can not always be filled due to the location of the farm and lack of other volunteers.

Isobel and Caelan were pleasant company and volunteers to help, but alas, needing more social life and not having a vehicle, they did not stay long enough to deepen their understanding of organic farming, life on a farm, for more enriching exchanges and beautiful excursions... That said, if they felt the urge to return, we would be happy to welcome them again...

My stay at the farm taught me a lot about growing vegetables; Luc taught me very efficient techniques. The effort and perseverance of Luc inspired me to learn as fast as possible and inspired me to be increasingly more efficient. Whoever wants to improve themselves and learn about the production of organic crops, this is the place. Martine is extremely warm and she was always attentive to me. They are a very hardworking couple and they make you feel at home; they clearly tell you how things work in the kitchen and in general, the room is very comfortable and I would like to return someday.

We both greatly appreciated Claudia's personality and her help in the garden. We were surprised to learn that, in Mexico, she practiced a profession far from ordinary: that of a butterfly breeder to brighten the important moments of life: weddings, baptisms, and anniversaries... We hope to see her again and welcome her back, especially since her daughter has settled in the Paris region.

Was a super hard but very rewarding experience. Pros: the hosts are some of the wisest people I've met and are very open minded and truly care. They respect your time and are very helpful. Cons/ things to check: check what kind of work u will be doing for the season because it will change, I would just ask them. Also check what facilities are available. It's hard on your body and tiring so keep that in mind. Overall, if you want to work on a farm in a pretty but very remote area (hard to get to supermarkets or any town), and work hard everyday, it is incredibly rewarding and enjoyable!

Thank you Toni for your truthful and positive appreciation and thank you to the three of you for giving your best in helping in the garden. I am sorry but I would feel dishonnest not to say that we would have appreciated sharing meals with you more often, as well as not saying, we've been quite shocked and disappointed to be left with all the cleaning of the bedroom, toilets and bathroom that you used... He made us think we had been considered as a bed and breakfast which we aren't at all..
