Mr. Jean Weinfeld (Frenchman)
As a 1 senior man household, only male applications will be considered.
The volunteer should be interested in culture, eventually in cooking, in meeting people of all kinds within human diversity based on mutual respect, in helping in the household (incidentally also around the house), in discovering new places of interest; the volunteer should be easy going and in a pleasant mood.
This is a non-smoking place. No drugs. No pets. No guests.
The place is easily accessible by train from Germany (+ a direct Flixbus from Berlin) as well as from the Czech Republic.
Many lakes and outdoor swimming pools with beaches around town (in the summer).
I am a private person, not an enterprise.
I live in a partly self-renovated listed house in the centre of town. As partly self-renovated, the house has electricity, running water and the Internet, my flat has an equipped kitchen, a bathroom with shower, sink, cupboard and WC, but the conditions of living in the flat are very modest, i.e. not so ideal for too "sensitive" people.
The house itself has three floors: the raised ground floor is uninhabited and serves as a storeroom, I live alone in my 80 square meters 3-room apartment on the first floor, my partner lives on the second floor and looks after the house and garden, and a friend lives on the third floor of the house: he is the guardian of the house in our absence. Within his working hours, if not in my flat, the volunteer will eventually be asked to help my partner in his activities around the house.
WARNING! Basic comfort, not for delicate people and persons sensitive to cold!
Please note: If I agree to give the volunteer a key to the house door on his request, I 'll require a deposit of €30, refundable when the key is returned in good condition at the end of the stay. If the volunteer declares that he does not need this key, he must take his smartphone/cell phone with him to let me know when he returns. As a rule, the apartment door remains open at all times - so the volunteer doesn't need a key to enter my flat.
The volunteer is responsible for this key; this key does never give him any right to move into the house, just to stay there during the time set for his volunteering. The volunteer is also responsible for keeping himself in good health during his stay at my place; he is legally liable for any damage caused to persons or things, in my place and outside. Therefore I recommend him to take an insurance accordingly. These rules apply as such automatically and without prior signed agreement / acknowledgement.
I am a mature but still fit and active French gentleman who worked in the field of cross-cultural and international youth exchange as a social educator. My interests: all that has to do with culture, youth, street life and travels. I have a PhD in philosophy, a degree in economy, political science and studied cultural anthropology. I initiated or participated in several international and European projects, I published in all these topics. I am multilingual. I now live in Germany (Saxony) on the border with the Czech Republic and Poland. I still travel a lot.
As a rule I am available as a host in the second half of May as well as from Mid July till Mid October in a year.
The volunteer is expected to be treated well, with respect and attention if he also behaves this way with me.
Since I am a 1 man household in my flat I'd prefer to accommodate only 1 male volunteer at a time for safety reasons and in order for the volunteer and for me to totally feel at ease.
