Mr. Mullets Party Hostel

Our hostel is a fun, laid back, social hostel in the centre of San Pedro on beautiful Lake Atitlan. Rated the #1 youth hostel on Lake Atitlan. Two years ago I purchased it with a group of my best friends - also backpackers who have stayed at/worked at hostels around the world. We're super passionate about our work here and are looking to run the hostel with a group of fun volunteers who want to help create a welcoming and adventurous environment.

We currently have 8 paid local staff. This includes 4 cleaners, 2 night guards, a gardener and 1 maintenance worker.
We typically have between 8-12 volunteers, so it always feels like we're a big family hanging out :) Volunteers are given plenty of freedom and spare time and we try to work around them to make their experience here a happy one.

The entire staff at Mr. Mulets is incredibly kind, helpful, and always willing to assist with anything you need. You can truly feel the love and positive energy in this place. It's a very special and welcoming environment.

It was my first experience doing volunteer. The days were incredible and suuuper crazy! You really have to enjoy partying if you want to volunteer here because you'll need a lot of energy. But it's absolutely worth it. The only downside is that the room is very hot and there's a lot of noise in the mornings from neighbors or people on the street. Other than that… I'm leaving very happy!

I absolutely loved my time at mr the hostel! The work is fun and doesn't really feel like work it just feels like you're part of the hostel. Kevin is my favorite manager and is amazing! Naomi and Walle are the event managers and are also amazing and so fun! I loved all the staff and other volunteers and everyone I met. My only complaint is that you sleep in a dorm with the other volunteers in the attic and it gets super hot and also really really loud in the morning because of the street noises (dogs barking, cars honking, etc) so getting proper sleep can be difficult sometimes.

I don't know what to say. So much happened. It was a great time. And I definitetly won't forget the experience any time soon. It's a the hostel, and a big one. Correctly famous for it. I learned so much about a field I had only dabbled in, videography, and it really opened my eyes to new possbiltities with the profession, like event videography/photography. The hostel and management were great. But what really made it a special/unforgettable time were the other volunteers. I was just really lucky in being able to meet so many people that were so cool.
