Nomada Urban Beach Hostel
All traveler, volunteer or staff member gets the opportunity to interact with people from all around the world at our hostel. Puerto Rico is rich in history, nature, infrastructure, music, art, and others. By staying at our location people will be able to define what is the real local lifestyle, expose to the Spanish language, cultural music, and dance, discover other places starting from the coast, and drive into the nature that makes PR Enchant Island.
Currently, there are three volunteers, two employees for the reception, and two for housekeeping. Volunteers can be expected to be treated like family as long as the rules are respected. Volunteers are given 50% off most of the items we have for sale. If you ever want to discover parts of Puerto Rico I can always be of help and if you have any questions. If you are trying to move to Puerto Rico as well I can be almost a mentor and assist you with how things work here. Also, anything above the 20-hour requirement you will be paid.

I have enjoyed my time so much here that I plan to extend. Obviously some things aren't perfect, but the team is very helpful, willing to listen, and change things to accommodate you to the best of their ability. Would recommend.

I stayed at the hostel Calle Loíza for five weeks and overall had a positive experience. The location is great, the volunteer room is comfortable with good storage, and I’m also grateful they let me stay a few extra days. That said, communication and management structure need improvement. Expectations and procedures weren't always clearly outlined, and staff chat responses could take hours, which was stressful during shifts. With clearer guidelines and more consistent support, the volunteer program could be much stronger.

You're lucky if you're chosen for this experience. It was my first WP. the hostel in Calle Loíza is right in the heart of everything: a park 1min away, Ocean Park beach right there, and endless places to walk, eat, and explore. The free buses made it easy to see so much of SJ. Krys knows this the hostel like the back of her hand. I've had many supervisors over the years, & she's genuinely the first (and ONLY) manager I've ever liked haha She gave great advice on local events and is an incredibly hardworking, supportive person. Make sure to chill at the pool at IV! Thank you for everything🩵

Volunteering at Nómada felt like an amazing once in a lifetime experience. I was nervous about being a young woman traveling solo, but I always felt safe and comfortable at this hostel (and in San Juan in general). Volunteering here allowed me to practice my Spanish, meet lots of fun people, enjoy nature, and so much more. Nerri & Kyrs are the absolute sweetest managers ever and I am so grateful I got to meet/work with them. If you get the chance to stay/volunteer here — do it!

I stayed at the CL location so I can't speak for the IV location but I enjoyed my stay here. Krys was very open, helpful, and welcoming during my stay. I extended my stay here alongside some other volunteers who did so as well. I would recommend.
