Proyecto La Colorada

Join Proyecto La Colorada – Live, Learn, and Grow in the Peruvian Jungle! 🌿

Are you ready for a one-of-a-kind adventure deep in the Amazon jungle? At Proyecto La Colorada, our mission is rooted in sustainability, community, and making a lasting impact. Located in the lush region of Ucayali, near Pucallpa, we are on a journey to create a greener future while empowering local communities.

🌳 Our Core Focus:
Reforestation and tree planting are at the heart of everything we do. We’re working tirelessly to restore the natural beauty of the jungle while promoting sustainable living. Volunteers will help grow and care for our bio-farm, where we cultivate fresh food to support our project and embrace an eco-friendly lifestyle.

🏡 Our Volunteer House:
Nestled in the jungle, our cozy volunteer house hosts up to 4 volunteers at a time, creating an intimate and supportive environment. You’ll share this unique experience with like-minded individuals while immersing yourself in the stunning beauty of the Amazon.

📚 Building Dreams:
Beyond our ecological mission, we are working to raise the funds needed to build a kindergarten for local children. Through various initiatives in both Belgium and Peru, we’re determined to create a safe and inspiring space where kids can grow, learn, and thrive.

✨ What We Offer:

A truly unique experience living in the Peruvian jungle.
Opportunities to learn about reforestation, sustainable farming, and eco-living.
The chance to contribute to a meaningful project that benefits both people and the planet.
We’re looking for passionate, adventurous volunteers to join us in making a difference. If you’re ready to reconnect with nature, embrace a sustainable lifestyle, and experience the vibrant culture of Peru, we’d love to welcome you to Proyecto La Colorada!

Proyecto La Colorada was born in 2015 from a deep commitment to environmental conservation, social development, and economic sustainability in the Peruvian Amazon. Our mission is to combat deforestation through reforestation efforts, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and enhance educational opportunities in the community of Lacre. By integrating local knowledge with innovative research, we strive to create a harmonious balance between nature and human development.

Our dedicated team is passionate about making a positive impact and values the contributions of each volunteer. We believe in treating our volunteers with respect, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative environment where ideas are shared and growth is mutual. As a volunteer, you can expect to be welcomed into our community, live in oue volunteer house with our host mother "Mami Cora", work alongside locals, and gain hands-on experience in sustainable living practices. Your efforts will directly contribute to our ongoing projects, and in return, we aim to provide you with a fulfilling and educational experience in the heart of the Amazon. Our Belgium based team is in daily coordination with our Peruvian team.

If you're looking for local immersion in an area away from the usual tourist circuit, this is your volunteer opportunity :).
Cora is wonderful, caring, attentive and pleasant, and she did everything possible to make me comfortable. She cooked delicious food and adapted to my needs. I had a private room with a large bed and a mosquito net.
The work can be hard during the dry season because you have to walk a lot to reach the place and the sun is intense.
I met many local people who greatly appreciated my company. Don't miss going to the school to offer help or to meet the neighbors!

Thank you for your words, Andrés! You have been part of one of the first experiences where we have received a lot of feedback to help us improve every day. We are eternally grateful to you.

Lacre is a lovely and peaceful community with a lot to learn from the locals. The kids are very fun to be around. Luisa, Cora, and Luis were extremely hospitable and really made sure I was taken care of. Volunteering is very flexible and you have a good amount of creativity with what you want to do. You can also learn about the Shipibo culture and plant medicine. There are many ways to have an impact in this project in the school or in planting trees, though a major challenge in the community are fires that tend to happen every dry season.

I had a really great time at the project! I am a solo female traveler and I never felt uncomfortable when I was staying there. My host Luisa was very understanding and supportive especially when I had doubts. I went during the month of July, which is during the dry season, so I only ended up spending about 2 days out of my 2 weeks helping on the farm and helping with reforestation. The rest of the time I spent working with the local school. I taught 2 English classes to the kids and helped out around the classroom. I got to meet a lot of locals and I had a really great experience!

Working in this project was a very educative experience! You get to learn a lot about the local culture and you get to meet a lot of locals. I felt very welcome there, everyone were really nice to us and happy to work alongside us. Cora, the mom of the house is very kind and caring, making sure we don't miss of anything and cooking the best meals every time. I learned a lot about farming and got to practice my Spanish a lot!
