Between the great outdoors, active night-life, and friendly faces all around, you'll be sure to find a memorable time here! Located throughout 5 beautiful historic cottages in the heart of Santa Cruz. Just 1 block away from Santa Cruz's boardwalk and wharf area, as well as world-famous surf spots, the location of this hostel just can't be beat!
The hostel has occupied the cottages for 30 years but the history of the cottages dates back to the 1800s. During your stay with us you'll cross paths with surfers, bikers, backpackers, and all other sorts of travelers.

Sara is an amazing human being, great host and a hospitality professional. The team at the hostel including Brian, Jamie, and Emma is supportive and fun! I'm so grateful it turned out to be an awesome experience working in a hostel. I enjoyed community dinners and meeting people from all over the world and expand my horizons. You, the next volunteer, are very lucky my friend to find yourself here! I definitely recommend volunteering at the Santa Cruz hostel, the best place in Santa Cruz!

I had an amazing experience at Santa Cruz hostel! Everyone was very friendly, kind, and welcoming, and there was almost always something going on to join. Work hours/tasks and amenities were as described, leaving lots of time to explore. The hostel itself is made of lovely cottages and is located perfectly for walking to the downtown area or to the beach. This experience is perfect if you are looking for a hostel community experience that’s a bit more relaxed and quiet but still offers lots of opportunities to interact with locals and other guests.

Where do I start?! From the very beginning everyone was super friendly and welcoming. I was there for 5 weeks and I felt at home every single day. My first interaction was with Emma (the awesome receptionist), she welcomed me with a smile and showed me around. The work was fun and I learned so many things from Aurora regarding housekeeping. I met a lot of people from different countries and even made some friends outside the hostel as well. Tina and Sara, thank you for making me feel part of your family. I love you all ❤️
Don't hesitate to volunteer in this place!

Santa Cruz hostel was the best experience!
Everything there is amazing! Sara and Tina are people with a giant heart, they make you feel like family. Sara's entire family is beautiful and her mother is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. Emma and aurora who also work at the hostel are amazing people. The hostel is beautiful and has the best location. It was very hard to say goodbye, every minute in that place was precious. I will treasure every memory. I just have to say thank you for everything.
