Schole Yamato

This is a great opportunity to experience alternative approaches to education in a unique rural setting in Japan. You will have the chance to learn about different teaching styles while living close to nature. You can also discover aspects of rural life, including farming and agriculture, and gain hands-on experience with local cultivation and daily life in the countryside.

You will be treated as a valued member of our team, just like one of our teachers, and also as part of our family. We aim to create a warm and supportive environment where everyone feels included and respected.

It is a very welcoming community and it feels like to be a part of a big family. As being said, if someone is really introverted or can be easily overwhelmed with many people, they might not enjoy it.
I really enjoyed practicing japanese with the Japanese residents and with the kids. The nature there is beautiful and in your free days you can explore more locations!

Ilonggo was a beautiful experience, our support was in their agroecological gardens and their farm where we enjoyed feeding the chickens daily, at times we could share and teach at their alternative school which is a very fun free-learning space, the family is very warm and welcoming with the volunteers, at first it is a bit confusing to understand the dynamics, then you realize that it is more about letting things flow and enjoying the work, the common areas are really the space where everyone shares, we went as a family with my 14-year-old daughter and she also enjoyed being part of the team.

We were welcomed into Mari san and Harold's family as members of the family. We discovered their farm while harvesting vegetables and rice, taking care of the chickens, etc. A real family atmosphere between the family and the volunteers. There are plenty of walks nearby thanks to the electric bikes. We loved our stay here! Thank you again!

Ilongo is like my second family. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. At first, I mostly did housekeeping. It's a mix of easy tasks in the shared rooms and guesthouses, like washing the laundry and cleaning the guesthouses for guests. After those weeks I started teaching English at the rural school. The day starts with singing English songs (sunshine time). After that, we study English for half an hour. The children cook lunch and in the afternoon we usually do creative activities or sports. It's a small group of children, so it's pretty easy to manage. I love being here!! <3

I spent one month there, and sooner than expected we became family already. It is a place where you spend most of your time with other volunteers and the family, so you get to share a lot of different experiences with them (amazing ones). Marisan and Harold damn how they work every day from dawn to dusk, they are impressively hard workers but still they will find the time to make you feel home. There're different kind of jobs and it is very flexible and openminded so they let you do how you feel it, hours are as it should be, and its also nice to help in the house as a part of a community!
