Ilongo is like my second family. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. At first, I mostly did housekeeping. It's a mix of easy tasks in the shared rooms and guesthouses, like washing the laundry and cleaning the guesthouses for guests. After those weeks I started teaching English at the rural school. The day starts with singing English songs (sunshine time). After that, we study English for half an hour. The children cook lunch and in the afternoon we usually do creative activities or sports. It's a small group of children, so it's pretty easy to manage. I love being here!! <3

I spent one month there, and sooner than expected we became family already. It is a place where you spend most of your time with other volunteers and the family, so you get to share a lot of different experiences with them (amazing ones). Marisan and Harold damn how they work every day from dawn to dusk, they are impressively hard workers but still they will find the time to make you feel home. There're different kind of jobs and it is very flexible and openminded so they let you do how you feel it, hours are as it should be, and its also nice to help in the house as a part of a community!

My time at the school was amazing. Mari and Harold are very hard working people and have created something really awesome. There were many opportunities to participate in local activities and cultural experiences. I was lucky to be there with multiple other volunteers and it felt like a big family. The work is simple and straightforward and I would recommend this to anyone who looking for this type of experience

I had a wonderful experience at guesthouse Illongo! Mari and Harold are very welcoming hosts that always make sure that you feel comfortable and encourage you to discover their life with them in this rural area (onsen, tea ceremony, sport with the community…). The work hours and the tasks were fair and it was very interesting to see how they manage all their projects (the school, the farm and the guesthouse) I will definitely come back again if I have the opportunity!
