We are receiving the first buildings, and the construction of the mother house and the lodging structure is underway: a compostable toilet, an external kitchen and a bathing area. For now, I have hosted people camping on the land near the stream. I have an outdoor compostable toilet and another covered one, a small external kitchen (sink, stove, water filter and cabinet) that will soon be replaced by a larger one; a rocket stove at the edge of the stream where we heat the bath water and enjoy a goddess bath in the middle of the forest. As you can see, the structure is very simple, but welcoming. I have a solar panel with inverter and battery that can charge simple equipment (cell phone, flashlight, computer, speaker...) so the vibe here at home leans more toward a campfire, lit candle and lots of conversation and presence, since we also don't have internet or cell service. But we can rely on the Wi‑Fi connection at my aunt's house which is less than a 10-minute walk away. Thus the detox from virtuality happens without cutting it off completely.
As I am quite advanced in the house construction, I have both finishing tasks (plastering and painting basically) and building tasks (I still have cob walls, pau-à-pique, adobe and hiperadobe to be raised). The work of the volunteers will be to assist me in these tasks and in maintaining the garden and small crops.
I hope we can work at least 5 hours a day together. As a bioconstruction instructor, I will be supervising, teaching, demonstrating and providing support in activities that require specific techniques. Therefore don't worry if you do not have experience in this area; I count on your energy and willingness to do and learn. The work can be physically demanding; it requires keeping your health up!
I prefer not to pre-set fixed work hours; we can decide how it works for each group that is together at the moment. This way we can fit online commitments, leisure hours and other needs we may have at the moment.
I consider myself a flexible and sensitive person to the needs of others; I believe that with good communication and a generous attitude we can harmonize living together and collective activities.
