Sítio Piraikê

Volunteers experience Caiçara culture up close, learning about permaculture, agroforestry, and the sustainable management of land amid the lush nature of the Mata Atlântica. 🌿

It's an opportunity to exchange knowledge, strengthen the bond with the land, and participate in a family project that unites tradition and environmental regeneration in one of the most beautiful places on the São Paulo coast. 🏝️✨

We are a family that believes in sharing, in respect, and in simple and true coexistence. We welcome volunteers as part of this network, with warmth and dialogue.
Here, everyone has their own space and pace, and the environment is one of mutual learning, care for nature, and the exchange of life experiences. 🌾
Within our space we have an agreement regarding silence; from 9 PM to 9 AM, we try to keep quiet in the common areas, aiming to lower the voice due to the proximity of the lodging to neighboring houses and also to listen to other animals ;)
On the day of arrival, please plan to arrive during the day, as arriving at night here for the first time can bring a series of inconveniences; therefore the arrival deadline is set for 18:00.

My first experience as a volunteer could not have been better! 🌿 I connected with nature, I learned about bamboo, garden beds, seedlings, composts, non-conventional edible plants (PANCs), and I was able to unleash my creativity by refurbishing wooden toys. Kiko is amazing, always open to communication, feedback, and suggestions, in addition to offering all the necessary support. His family is also wonderful and has Nega, the best dog in the world! ❤️ Being in the Atlantic Forest, it's natural to encounter insects and other animals, so it's worth being prepared for this coexistence. A very educational experience. I recommend.

What a wonderful experience volunteering! Very grateful for the trust and Kiko's eagerness to conduct a small study about the area's clays; it feels really good to be able to share my love for ceramics..may that little oven be a seed sprouting strong! Kiko, Thais and Chico..human beings who sow love and awareness on the earth, who dwell in harmony and respect for all that exists, who remember and help keep the Caiçara culture alive..pure beauty to meet them..until new encounters and synchronizations!💚☘️

Spectacular! The host Kiko is a 10/10 person! Excellent communication! Here I learned to identify and prepare some PANCs (Non-Conventional Edible Plants), I was able to put my hands in the soil, helping him to create beds and some agroforestry practices, in addition to hearing plenty of stories about Caiçara culture and Ilhabela. Highly recommended!
