Tegumento

We are based on an urban terrace on the outskirts of Bogotá, immersed in the city. We carry out activities such as seed sowing, water harvesting, composting, bioconstruction, and ongoing study of the Permaculture system focused on Buen Vivir, opening ourselves to developing more actions that will strengthen the Permaculture system, to learn from it and, if possible, to disseminate it.

Daily tasks are agreed upon by all, with some projects in mind for the space and also connected to some projects in Bogotá, through which there is direct involvement with their processes, such as the Buen Vivir Learning School located on the facilities of the National University of Colombia.

In the project's house, we have active artistic activities, carpentry, bioconstruction, seed sowing, water management, and, again, always aiming to strengthen the system.

Renzo's family accepted me right away! I truly felt apart of the family on day one! I got to practice my Spanish! I was there during a very special time for Colombians— the World Cup and the presidential elections! How special it was to watch games and the elections live with Renzo and his family! I really enjoyed my stay and the flexibility that Renzo and his family allowed— especially regarding any vulnerable information! I got to go to special events and meet Renzo's friends— creating a sense of belonging and true “living in the moment” scenes. So inspired by the family and their goals!

My time with Renzo and his family was amazing. From the start I felt welcomed and truly cared for. I don't speak Spanish well but Renzo was so patient and kind, and despite the language barrier I felt so much love from his parents. This experience felt more like a cultural exchange, I immediately felt like a part of their family. I had so many amazing experiences like, gardening, going to the flower market w/ his parents, making a dish from my home country, sitting in on an ARN meeting at the U of Bogotá and hiking to see a paramo. I'm so grateful for a meaningful and unforgettable experience.

Renzo and his family were incredible hosts and this felt more like a cultural exchange than it did volunteering. I came into it with little to no knowledge of sustainable agriculture and I have come out of it a much more knowledgeable traveler because of my time in Bogota.
Renzos family also completely helped me with the doctors process when I got sick, accompanying me to the doctor and ensuring that I was well taken care of when I was feeling terrible.
All in all great experience, nicer family

I have never been more excepted as quickly into a family dynamic more than I was with Renzo's. His parents are caring, ensuring that you are comfortable throughout the stay, and I had the pleasure of getting to know them even with my beginner Spanish. Renzo is very cool, and his permaculture project is a reflection on that. Part of your hours will be helping him and his friends with the vegetation space they are in the process of creating through his university. This job is perfect if you want to get a taste of a Colombian family lifestyle and help contribute to agricultural sustainability.
