Tierra Habitada

We are Pili and José, a married couple in love with life, nature, beauty, justice and fraternity.
We live in Cañicosa, a small town in Segovia, where we are setting up a center for ecology, spirituality and welcome. A place where:
- live in harmony with nature and its rhythms.
- implement a simple and sustainable lifestyle.
- share the passion for God and the spirituality.
- live harmonious and fraternal human relations.
- welcome those who need shelter and human warmth.

This is a space where you can learn to live in connection with nature and its rhythms and to consume in a simpler, healthier and respectful way with the Earth and people. Our food is almost vegetarian and, as far as possible, local, seasonal, free of plastic waste and fair trade. Hygiene products are also ecological and zero waste. In our house there is no television and Wi-Fi is dispensed with as much as possible; this is a place that aims to free itself from electromagnetic waves, from an excess of technology and where you can find yourself. We also offer travelers the possibility of participating in some of the activities we carry out, such as weekly meditation or other sporadic ones.

Cañicosa is a small town near the mountain where about 20 people live permanently; It is close to Matamala (a similar town) and Matabuena (180 inhabitants). It is a place where you can enjoy nature either walking or cycling along various paths between ash, holm oak, oak or juniper trees. In Arcones (5 kilometers away) it is possible to paraglide. In Navafría (10 kilometers away) there is a recreational area with a waterfall and it is possible to go up to Puerto de Navafría and make excursions to Pico del Nevero among others. In Prádena (10 kilometers away) you can visit the Cueva de los Enebralejos or the Acebal. Also nearby is La Velilla where you can do the Senda del Río Cega or Casla where you can walk through the Pasil del Moro. 5 kilometers from Cañicosa is Pedraza, one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, and within 35 kilometers you can visit Segovia, Sepúlveda, Hoces del Duratón or Riaza. In all the surroundings you can enjoy the typical gastronomy of the area. There are also cultural activities depending on the time of year.

We have a garden and orchard that we cultivate organically and need set-up and maintenance: prepare seedbeds, remove and fertilize the soil, set up the irrigation system, take care of the plants depending on the season... Help is also good in the maintenance of some installations of the house and in the cleaning of the house, as well as cooking.
Occasional help in hosting groups and maintaining the house is welcome.

My stay at the farm in Spain was unforgettable. From day one, José and Pili welcomed me like family. I truly felt at home! Taking care of the animals was so much fun. I learned a lot about eco-living and sustainable nutrition. With a great place to sleep and amazing food, everything was perfect. I highly recommend this experience to everyone. A huge thank you to José and Pili!

Excellent experience, it integrates you into the local society and culture, Pili and José are excellent hosts, always willing to help with whatever you need and to show the beauties of Segovia and its surroundings.
You should not miss the opportunity to visit La Granja, Los Acueductos and, of course, Pedraza; the latter is like plunging into a medieval era because of its architecture.
We highly recommend this host 100 x 100.
Thank you

My first experience has been a bit rough due to personal matters but highly positive, pleasant and rich in knowledge about healthy eating, the importance of the responsible use of the project and the environment among others! Grateful to the hosts and their hospitality. In short, today I think I am even more sure that I want to continue traveling, collaborating and gaining experience in this way! Thank you for the opportunity! I’m going for more!! 😃

During the three weeks that Juliana and Huilén have been with us, they have proven to be two responsible and reliable people. They are two mature, independent, and discreet young women. They have helped us a lot with tasks in the garden, the chicken coop, and general maintenance, always with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
