Tobruk Homestead
Unique opportunity to experience Aussie farm life, fresh air and a very relaxed vibe, learning some new skills, contributing to farm life, while also being close enough to be able to see Sydney and its surrounding wonders, including the Blue Mountains and the Beaches.
At the moment we have myself and my husband living at the farm, along with an employee in our engineering business who lives in a separate house. We also currently have an engineering student working full time in the office. We expect to treat our volunteers as a cross between welcome guests and family members. We won't ask you to do any task we haven't already done ourselves.

It's hard to put into words how special our six weeks with Collette and Max were. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed and genuinely part of the family. We loved caring for the dogs & cows, learning new things and experiencing a side of Australia that felt so real and wholesome. What made the experience truly special was how kind and generous they were, always making us feel at home. We'll remember their stories, life lessons and all the little moments that made our stay so meaningful. Food was always delicious too, especially the apple crumble 💚. We couldn't recommend this more! 😁

I had a fantastic time at the farm. The work was reasonable and varied, with some recurring tasks and other bigger projects. I spent time chopping wood, moving metal, digging, laying concrete, and helping with the animals, so it's best suited for those that enjoy working hard and don't mind getting dirty. Max and Collette did a wonderful job including me in life at the farm, and making me feel welcome. Dinner every night was wonderful and delicious, and I enjoyed spending time with the dogs and the family.

Collette and Max are wonderfully welcoming hosts and provided an unforgettable experience. Comfortable lodgings, home
cooked meals and two adorable dogs all contribute to making this such an amazing stay. The work on offer is varied and provides a good sense of accomplishment, and though I initially had a vague idea of what a farm experience should entail, the opportunity to do not only farm and landscaping work but helping out in the workshop with more engineering centric work proved an even greater privilege. Cannot recommend enough for those willing to do their fair share.

Collette and Peter are incredibly welcoming hosts and provided an unforgettable experience. The variety of tasks that need doing at different times of year made for a fun and interesting time. And while I initially came in with a vague idea of what a proper farming experience was, getting the even greater opportunity to dip my toes into many different worlds by not only doing some farm and landscaping work but also helping out in the workshop was far more enriching than I ever could have imagined. I cannot recommend this spot enough for those who are willing to do their fair share.

Collette and Max made me feel right at home from the second they picked me up. They're both very kind and generous. The work was extremely reasonable and will vary depending on your skillset and interests. I mainly painted window frames and sashes, but I helped out with some animal chores every now and again. The guest room was very nice and separated from the rest of the house by a hallway so there's a good amount of privacy. I absolutely recommend this experience and would love to come back again!
