Vitae Hostel

We love having fun together, also our hostel has a bit of a community around it already, so coming here feels like seeing all of your old friends again!
Europe is very small, and you get to meet a lot of the people you've met in spain, check, ostria, germany and so on!

The staff here is like a family
(a pretty drunk family)
We like to party, but also chill, have movie nights, go sightseeing and all of that!
If you like being social, like meeting a bunch of new friends, and have a lot of fun days and nights, this is the place for you!

My time at the hostel was amazing. Katie made me feel welcome from day one. She's such a sweetheart. The work is very easy, and I can honestly say this is one of my favorite volunteer placements I've ever done. It truly feels like a home away from home.

The work was not as described when I applied. I wouldn’t have minded the housekeeping and cleaning if it was the hours agreed but the manager Katie would give me extra tasks like scraping off limescale from under the sinks which no one else had to do. I was also given no cleaning clothes or masks so one of the days I felt really dizzy from the amount of bleach. The overall cleanliness here is not great with ants crawling around and just filthy. My bedroom was attached to reception which meant I had absolutely no privacy. The rest of the staff were lovely and apart from that I enjoyed my stay!

Unfortunately, Elizabeth’s review does not reflect the wider experience and seems largely based on frequent misunderstandings with staff and tasks. As reflected in our previous always positive reviews the role and cleaning expectations are clearly explained, and all volunteers are held to the same easy standards. We’re glad Elizabeth enjoyed her stay as facilitated by our manager; however, no concerns regarding unfair treatment were raised with management despite having meetings weekly to do so.

What a cool experience! You meet new people every day and you form connections with the other volunteers. Events every day (it's not mandatory to attend if it's not your night as the party promoter, so you can skip going out partying a lot if you don't want to) and pretty enjoyable since you can go back home around 3–4 am. The people are really cool, very open!! The tasks are simple and you have A LOT of free time!!!

I spent 7 weeks at the hostel and it was truly a great experience! I met lots of amazing people, had so many fun nights out and the vibe in the hostel was great. The working hours are totally doable and are as communicated! Budapest is also a lovely city and a great place to try new things. The staff is also great and lots of fun. Would totally recommend going to the hostel!!
