WACHUMA ECO LODGE

If you are seeking a haven of tranquility and personal spiritual retreat, my countryside home is the perfect destination. Volunteers can immerse themselves in our Andean culture, traditions, and customs, while also discovering the medicinal benefits of organic plants. Additionally, they can explore the breathtaking tourist attractions of the Cordillera Blanca, such as pristine lakes and archaeological sites. Our community prides itself on its warm and friendly people, which will make your experience even more enriching.

The work is done collaboratively with my family, and we approach all tasks with a high level of professionalism, education, and respect for our personnel.

Required qualifications to participate in the Wachuma Eco Lodge project:
- Basic proficiency in English or Spanish.
- Ability to adopt local etiquette and adapt to the project's daily practices.
- Positive, collaborative, and adaptable attitude towards the community and the project.

▪︎ In order to cover kitchen supplies, internet service, and maintenance expenses necessary to operate our project, we have implemented a daily contribution of $12 USD per person and per day for our Worldpackers community members. This amount enables us to provide the best possible experience for our volunteers, with access to high-quality facilities and tools, and adequate resources for our daily activities. We appreciate your understanding and support in this initiative, which allows us to continue our work and grow as a project.

The first night I arrived my host showed up drunk. He yelled at me to follow him to a room alone, to make dinner. I was uncomfortable and left. Once I left the room, he txted and called me on WA, saying I need to make him dinner. I had to pay a higher fee than agreed upon. There was one other volunteer, we were led to believe there would be multiple. I wanted to leave early as I was not comfortable, he was upset and told me I owe him more money, though I paid a higher amount and for the days I wouldn't be there. They agreed to provide all meals, on my last day they did not provide lunch.

Actually, it was a very negative experience with Ms. Emely due to her misconduct and failure to fulfill the role and commitment of the job. During the days she was on the project, all services were provided to her in accordance with the commitment. However, she chose to engage in other activities outside of my project with the intention of making me look bad and commenting with negative contexts, using that as an excuse for the lack of coordination that she had as a plan. I would not recommend her to other hosts because she does not fulfill the commitment

Maxwell is an extremely active and proactive person across a wide range of tasks. He helped us with gardening, maintenance, and cleaning work in the countryside, as well as with transporting dry wood for the kitchen. This experience was unforgettable and contributed to improving the project. We are deeply grateful to him, and without a doubt I would recommend him to other hosts with a 100% guarantee.

I simply have to say, thank you very much, brother Maxwell!

Valeria is a very pleasant and kind person. She loves many animals and nature; I felt with her as if she were one of my sisters. She helped me a lot with the plants and with the guinea pigs, and she is very respectable; thus I recommend her to everyone. Thank you very much, Valeria.

This was such a beautiful experience, mostly because of our host Cris and his good energy! The tasks were diverse, mostly adapted to everyone's skills or what you are interested in. Cris and his family are one of the last Inca family living in the mountains, it was a real immersion in a very different world, perfect to learn about the local culture which they were so happy to share. The food was simple, potatoes, rice, soups, oats, bread … it was nice to try a lot of traditional meals. It can get really cold in the mountains so don't forget warm clothes. 🫶⛰️🇵🇪
