Wintersun

Your adventure matters!
We provide our willing workers with warm, comfortable accommodation in a relaxed home.
We would love to host you in our part of the world! Every afternoon of free time, you get to explore. Search ‘Bellarine Peninsula Victoria Australia' to plan your adventure.

You are welcome to join us! And we would love your help!

I am a DIY home renovator and an extrovert. It's much more fun to work on projects with someone else, and I get more done when someone is helping. Stopping for a work break now and then would be a normal part of the fun.

The projects we tackle together will depend on your skills and capacity. Projects could include: tidying and reorganisation of the shed and garden areas; developing a vegie patch; helping with kitchen, meal, and house cleaning; and possibly heading off to help on a bio-organic community farm.

Whilst there is some flexibility, a normal day would start with breakfast, with the expectation that we would all be ready to start work by 8am. We would then work together until 1am (5 hours). This would include a relaxed lunch, eating, and chatting as we prepare the evening meal. After that, it's your free time.

You are invited to pitch in!
We can provide all meals if required. We invite you to help with meal setup, serving, and cleanup as part of community family life, not as part of the 5 hours of work.

Notes:
• Coffee, tea, and soda/tap water are provided, but feel free to bring your own alternatives (in moderation).
• Opt out of home meals if you would like to explore local takeaways, restaurants, and wineries.
• Depending on my afternoon commitments, it may be possible to provide transport to a nearby beachside town. Lots of options!
• Public transport is available within a 2-minute walk.
• Our home is strictly non-smoking inside or near the house.
• We have no pets, and no pets will be allowed inside. If you have a pet, please negotiate a win-win plan.

The weekly pattern:
• Day 0: Arrive by private car or public transport in the afternoon.
• Days 1 -5: Total work time: 5 hours/day for 5 days.
• Day 6: This is Day One of free time for adventure/recreation/rest. (Or for saying our goodbyes and moving on out before midday.)
• Day 7: This is Day Two of free time for adventure/recreation/rest. (Or for saying our goodbyes and moving on out before midday.)

I was fortunate to meet Phillip and Keren, and I can say with certainty that they are incredibly warm, kind, and attentive people. Their hospitality made the distance from my family much more bearable; they made me feel like part of their family from the very first day. I spent most of my time with Phillip, who not only helped me quickly adapt to Melbourne but also improved my Aussie English. He organized a gathering with friends and family, teaching me the value of community and habits like giving thanks before meals, which helped me be more mindful and celebrate my daily achievements. Phil and Keren, were a lovely couple. They welcomed me to their home like it was mine. Keren goes away during the week to work, so you spend most time with Phil. Me and Phil got along very well. We both liked to ask questions, tell stories and crack a joke (or a few) once in a while! In the evenings you have dinner with them and this was my favorite part of the day. I really enjoyed Phil's tradition to “eat with thankful hearts”. I'm sure he will be happy to explain it to you too. I also really liked just sitting in the living room after dinner, eating ice cream and commenting on the Olympics
