Xtak

The work is pretty laidback although physical, gardening and light maintenance. You will learn about plants and their uses, plus I often experiment with different construction and art materials, so we will learn together.

I like things done well, but I believe people can do their chores without me being in their case all the time. I am fine with volunteers administering their own time. I have many interests, thus I will sometimes change plans in order to pursue something else. I am open to every and any question, and I will help out with plans or stuff you need to know about mexico.

My stay at the camping was such a lovely experience! Serioshka was incredibly kind, welcoming, and always checking in to make sure I was doing well. Communication was great throughout my stay, which made everything feel easy and comfortable. Communication was great, and the tasks were simple and manageable—taking care of the dogs, helping Pancho with gardening and trimming trees, assisting with housekeeping, and keeping the house and kitchen clean and tidy. Tepoztlan is truly a magical town, beyond grateful for the experience and would definitely recommend staying here!

The campsite is a super vibrant and beautiful space, near the hill in the beautiful Tepoztlán. I learned about plants, also some art and using tools that I had never used, Serioshka is very cool and you will get super attached to the dogs, Jose, Reni and Cami are lovely! If you are looking for an experience to connect with yourself and nature, this is a great option. I would gladly return :)!

This experience was a dream. Serioshka is a wonderful host, teaching tips and tricks of the garden and the city along the way and helping out in whatever may be needed. Your main tasks are looking after the dogs (it is simply impossible to not fall in love with the dogs). And watering the garden daily. You work with Serioshka and Poncho the gardener throughout the week on various tasks to maintain and learn about the garden. Tepotzlan is a sleepy city, but there is always something to do. If you enjoy making art, hiking, nature, and simply exploring - this is the place for you!

I really enjoyed my time with Serioshka and in Tepotzlan. I feel that I have learned a lot about medicinal plants and how to maintain the land with aquaponics. I will miss the dogs and the time with Pancho, the very kind gardener who taught us many things. I thought I would be alone in Xtak, but there were other volunteers from around the world and we got along well. In the end I am grateful to have known Serioshka as an artist as well. She has a lot of creativity and respect for nature. I am very inspired and would love to come back!
