Yevada English Fun ( VOLPRO 1 )

Hello future volunteers,

We are an English language institution located in Blitar, East Java, and we invite you to join us in a fun and interactive volunteer opportunity with children. Your role will be to assist and engage with them, practicing English through exciting and innovative teaching methods. Sometimes you will help us to promote attending to the school and join the event. You’ll create simulations and use traditional children's games to make learning enjoyable. Plus, you'll get to explore and appreciate the beautiful natural surroundings as part of this enriching experience. Come and make a difference while having an unforgettable adventure!

The program is led by Mr. Ali, who is directly responsible for our volunteers. With his fluent English and a competent team of mostly young professionals, our program ensures a dynamic and supportive learning environment. Additionally, we have a native speaker who occasionally assists with speaking practice, enriching the overall experience.

We ensure that volunteers can make the most of their valuable time with us by providing easy access to these enriching experiences. Whether seeking tranquility in nature, immersing in local culture, or simply unwinding by the pool, there's something for everyone to enjoy near our location.

To thank Mr. Ali and his family for opening the doors to their home and for helping us whenever we need them. Thanks to Okta for their strong involvement and commitment, a key piece.
Regarding organization, we have felt a lack of coordination and communication from the team. The work would have flowed more smoothly if the teachers had been more involved and there had been a curriculum, since we had to organize and plan the classes ourselves.
The best part has been being able to work with and get to know the children, shy at first but open to learning and having fun.

It was a truly wonderful experience. I really enjoyed teaching English. The children are very respectful; they're a bit shy at times, but they're always keen to meet new volunteers. The other teachers are very caring and really friendly. I taught at Mr Ali's home and in local schools. I usually taught in the evenings, so I had the mornings and afternoons to myself and time for other activities.

All in all we had a pretty good experience at Mr. Ali's place with a lot of free time and generally lots of freedom. It's important to know that it's a 30 minute drive to Blitar though. We really liked the accomodation, because we had a lot of space, even though an AC would have been nice. Teaching was often at other schools in the area, which was pretty interesting.
The only big issue was the communication which was very difficult, big thanks to Mr. Ali's nephew Farid though who was always there to help, explain and spend time with us!

Hi, Emma, thanks for staying with us. You were an amazing volunteer English teacher at our course for one month. You’re patient, friendly, and made classes fun and easy to follow. Our students felt more confident speaking English thanks to her energy and support. You were dedicated, creative, and a joy to work with. Thank you, Emma! We’re really grateful for your time and impact. Highly recommended!

Just left from Mr Ali’s house and I can truly say it was a memorable experience. The host welcomed me into his home together with his mother and nephew who were super helpful and sweet. I cannot thank them enough for the experience and the care they took of me. I had some issues when it comes to communication both with due to language and culture barriers. I would suggest to confirm everything by writing. All in all it was an amazing experience and they will be in my heart forever 🫶🏼🥹 With regards to hygiene and religion regulations I would advise to check before committing.

Hi, Leila. How are you? Thanks for staying with us. Our family and students were very happy with your presence. Many of the neighbours have been asking about you. Your stay in our village was too short. When will you come to Blitar again?

My experience in the host SCHOOL was very nice. I got the chance to meet the locals, to visit different schools, to try local foods and also to have the host. The classes at home are nice because the groups are small. Mister Ali is a very friendly person who is ready to help you in anything you need. You will live the javanese culture and also will have time to explore around. I recommend volunteers who are interested in living an authentic experience to come here. You wont regret! Thank you guys for everything.
