The Experience

Aloha, we are from Maui, Hawaii, and now live in a Quinta in Albufeira, Algarve, Portugal. We want to create a sustainable Quinta with some rental fruit trees and Gardens to eat and sell. We are active and offer some activities for our guests. We are Christians and go to a Non-Denominational church with people from all over the world. We want to connect with people from anywhere and require them to be non-smokers, non-heavy drinkers.

Everything was great! The atmosphere was really good, and we had a lot of fun together. Deborah always took good care of us, especially while we were working, and made sure we were doing well. She even called us ‘Transformers’ because we changed and transformed a few things while we were there. The accommodation was cute and cozy, and overall, it was a really nice experience. We would definitely recommend it!

Art and Deborah are really nice, the work was a bit diffucult in the warm weather, but we could swim in the pool whenever we wanted to, the entire stay was great without any complications

My time in the Quinta was amazing. I felt very welcomed and appreciated. The work was always explained and equally shared between volunteers. The accommodation was really nice and over all the property is beautiful with a good atmosphere and lots of possibilities to explore the Algarve. Also Art and Deborah often offered rides into town and always helped if needed.
Over all it was a very nice stay and I would have loved to stay longer.

Henry and Alina were the best! They communicated very well, was receptive to learning, and executed tasks extremely well with very positive attitude. We loved having them here and wish they could have stayed longer. They were both experienced and WP... Glad to have them and recommend them to all hosts.

I had a nice stay at the quinta, doing gardening for a week. I would recommend agreeing on the working days beforehand, to be safe. The work wasn't super hard or demanding either.

Roz and did a good job at the gardening tasks. We mostly had her and Lena do gardening since their was no experience on building or using small mechanized tools. We shared some mechanized tools with gardening tasks. Other than that, we loved having them both here and they were both very respectful and we enjoyed giving them rides, fruit and just having them here. I would recommend them to other hosts.

The experience in Albufeira was incredible. The facilities are very comfortable. The hosts were receptive, flexible, and friendly. The work is intense, but enriching. I can only thank Débora and Art for the reception and the experience; they were incredible days :-)

Art replied

Patricia, did well at gardening. However it was hot and I think gardening is not her top skills. We found out though that she is extremely gifted as a seamstress. So we did have her to some sewing for us and that was magical. We also had some language barrier since she barely new any English. But we managed to communicate. She was awesome as a seamstress! Glad to have her here.
