The Experience

Volunteering at Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre is a practical, hands-on experience within a working animal rescue environment. Volunteers help with the daily care of rescued horses and donkeys, including feeding, cleaning paddocks, basic husbandry and general outdoor tasks. The work is physical, takes place outdoors, and is essential to the wellbeing of the animals in our care. This is not a tourist experience or a traditional host-family settin

I really enjoyed my stay here. Everyone was very nice and friendly and made me feel at home very quickly. I also had a bike I could use, so I could get to the beach or to the nearby town pretty easily. Work was finished usually at twelve o'clock every day and I had the rest of the day free to rest and explore the surroundings.

I spent a very good time their. The job is physical : feed horses and donkeys and clean the fields. You need to like them. In May, this part of Spain is already hot and you are working outside (7:30 - 12:30 most of the time). Sue and Ron, the fondeurs impressed me with their dedication and passion. And so is the team of workers and local volunteers, many of them come several times a week. I have been very well welcome. Much better with a car but not impossible without : buses in Rojales (15 min walk or 7 with bike) to Alicante, Guardamar, or Murcie. Only english speakers their.

I had a really good time staying here and I loved walking up in the morning to all the animal noises. It's early mornings feeding the donkeys and horses and then after feeding it's time for field cleaning, we worked 4-6 hours a day so we got plenty of time exploring the area. I stayed in a shared room with my friend and it was a good room with both ac, a sofa and a little table to eat on. The whole team was the shelter going and we had a good time with them!I definitely recommend to stay here!

I had an amazing time at the shelter, everyone there is really kind and welcoming. The tasks were as expected (feeding in the morning and then clearing fields) and not difficult, you quickly find your rhythm. Depending on how long you want to work you are done at about 12:30, but I often worked longer because I enjoyed it and there is always stuff to do. In the afternoons or on days off you can reach some surrounding towns and the beach by bike, but there are also 2 cats and all the horses and donkeys that love cuddles. I will miss all the people and the animals and hope to be back soon
