The Experience

You can live in a small courtyard in a Chinese village, deeply connected with the local people. We hope that you can do some daily tidying, cleaning, and reception work in the courtyard, and also do some art projects here. We have three little dogs and three little kittens. Two chickens and some vegetable plots, most of the time we live together in the yard, you can experience local bamboo weaving and wood carving.

My stay at the home was my first Wolrdpackers experience, and it was the perfect place to welcome me into the volunteering community! I learned a lot about Chinese culture, met a lot of locals and made a lot of great contacts. When I told Yi (the host) what I wanted to experience in China she imidietly recommend me some places to visit and contacted me with the people who can take me there. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy nature and take part in some of the activities that the place has to offer! I hope to see you again one day Yi! :)

"书益小筑 is the place in China where being vulnerable is okay." That's how I decided to describe this experience. I recommend that when you come here, you come with 0 expectations (we all have expectations, but try to put them away). Just flow, let your emotions surface, whatever they may be, here we all learn from each other; you might cry, you might laugh, you might get angry, you might dance, whatever it is, it's going to be okay, don't give up! It's worth it. Yi is the heart and soul of this comunity, make her life brighter and smoother and you'll receive something wonderful in return."

Yi is a really great person and a wonderful host. I enjoyed my stay in Chinese village so much. It's great place to slow down, connect with nature and live like local.
Work I've done was easy: cleaning up the yard, doing dishes, take care of animals, teaching local children English. I had lots of free time, I used it to paint, doing yoga and simply rest. I've had so much fun, would love to come again someday. So so lovely, my best volunteer experience ever! Thank you so much

Volunteering in Yi's community is soo nice. I was only there for short time but so much happened and I'm just so happy to have met all of these nice people. You have a very confortable place to sleep in, nice food and work hours that are respected. In my free time Yi's friends drove me and the other volunteers to do activities or we went to a village near by with the bikes. Yi is a very positive person you really want to be around. 10/10 recommend!! be back soon for more majang games and a tibet road trip :)

This was my first experience with world packers - and I couldn't have asked for a better one. Yi is such a kind host. She has managed to create a beautiful community full of lovely people who have similar ideas about living together.

I learned so much about Sichuanese language and culture. Yi was kind enough to organise trips to see mount QingCheng and so see the SanXinDui museum. Volunteering work was not too difficult, and getting to work with the kids on the weekend was truly so much fun.

I recommend this to people looking for cultural immersion not too far from the city.
