The Experience

Fatma cooks all the food for the cafe at the entrance to the hostel so if you're interested in learning how to cook traditional Turkish dishes, you will enjoy helping. Main role is serving customers the prepared food and drinks. This job ties in hours with helping in the hostel. If it is the busy period you may be asked to stick with one or the other but roles and hours are very flexible. All can be decided on a day to day, week to week basis.

Great time with hostel family and the guests. Location is amazing and close to everything. Exploring around the city everyday felt like I was in a fairy tale. Especially during sunset and sunrise. Worth every moment. Thanks to Ali and his family !

An unforgettable immersion with language, food, culture and family in Goreme Turkey. This family has a heart of gold with Turkish passion for family. Fatma is the heart of the operation and loves to have assistance in the cafe. This is a plus, because you can learn to cook all that is on the menu. Ali likes to run the hostel, but he doesn't do it without Fatma's help. Ali has a big heart and feels deeply. Yes, Ali drinks and refers to himself as an alcoholic. That's not your concern or problem to fix. Come to Homestay cave, volunteer with enthusiasm. You won't regret it! Forever in my heart!!!

It was the best volunteer experience in my life! I helped the family and could learn a lot with them!
Now I understand how hospitable they are, it was much more than a volunteering, I had a familiar experience! Besides to recomend, I want to back here again again and again!

I had a wonderful experience at the home. Ali and his mom were very welcoming, kind and helpful from the beginning, and they made me feel like part of the family. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, and I really enjoyed spending time with everyone. I'm very grateful for the time I spent here and would definitely recommend the home to other travellers.
