The Experience

Walk on night patrols and experience the unforgettable moment of encountering a sea turtle nesting in the darkness, listening to its every movement in the sand. Wake up to the excitement of releasing hundreds of hatchlings into the ocean and participate in real conservation research by excavating nests. A unique and authentic experience in a wild and uncrowded paradise, next to Corcovado, where conservation comes to life. Ig: @naturaviva_project

There is no other project like this! You can truly feel Albas passion about birds, turtles, organic gardening and her dogs and chickens, and much more. She explains everything so you really can understand the purpose about it. I loved going to the lagoon in the early mornings, I helped also plant tomatoes and spinachs and with more tasks in the organic garden or changing sand in the hatchery. I never missed a sunset at the beach Ganadito, it is a magical and remote place. The food was so delicious. I cannot wait to see how it evolves, for me it is a true project of the heart I wont forget

What an amazing experience ! I recommand this project 300% ! This is exactly why I travel : meeting authentic people and making a real difference. Alba and Manuel are incredibly passionate and welcoming, and Manuel's family made us feel at home from day one. The bird monitoring trips at sunrise were unforgettable, and every day felt meaningful. If you want a genuine Costa Rican experience while helping wildlife conservation, don't hesitate. Authentic, meaningful, and inspiring. Thank you for everything, I wish you all the best, and please keep doing what you do with so much corazón! ❤️

I loved meeting Alba and Manuel, as well as their whole family. It's a beautiful place, very close to nature and the beach. It's not a touristy place, so the beach was almost all mine. I've learned a lot about birds; it's amazing how quickly Alba can recognize them! I also learned more about permaculture, and I planted pineapples, for example! It's a very beautiful project and Alba has tons of plans for the future of this place. I can't wait to see how it evolves over time. I'm going to miss you all a lot and, of course, Bebé and Tormenta 🐶 too.

Note to the next volunteers, there are two dogs tied in the garden of the lodging. Unfortunately we do not have the authorization to let out only one of them; she is called Tigra and is adorable. Think to ask to walk her the most possible. As soon as you go to the beach etc take her with you; she loves it and it's the only moment when she can move. otherwise, the experience was nice but when I was there we were only 4 volunteers, for the food it's practically only rice; for the activities in August we saw unfortunately only one turtle and we have too much free time

Hi! First of all, the dogs you mention are not from the NaturaViva project, so we are not the owners. On the other hand, you decided to shorten your stay by only 5 days of work. During your stay you saw a turtle and you were able to work on what is basically the core of the project. There were four quite friendly volunteers to socialize with. As for the food there were chickpeas, meat, soup, pasta... but you always left it on your plate; rice is a side dish.
