Volunteering here has been a wonderful experience. I chose this place because I wanted more introspection and a connection with nature (something I missed during my stay in Lençois). The landscape here is magnificent; I wake up to the birds' songs and I sleep to the sound of frogs and crickets. I have all meals and the host leaves the kitchen well-stocked, so I can eat whatever I want, whenever I want. I don't need to worry about leaving here, unless I want to take some excursion. Bela is flexible with the work and my pace, and I rarely meet all the hours scheduled on the platform.

It's reciprocity, Jéssica; when we feel the commitment, there's no need to charge anything! Everything flows contentedly.

First negative experience on the platform. If you’re thinking of going, be aware that so far there’s no internet or cell signal at the site, only at the host’s house. For those going without a car, there are few activities and places to go nearby.
We also had difficulties communicating with the host. When we set our boundaries and flagged situations that weren’t working for us, it was interpreted as a lack of willingness to help, and when we chose to end the volunteering before the allotted time because of these comments, we were told that we did not accept criticism.

Isabela replied

An immature and unprepared volunteer for the challenges of the rural area. The volunteer experience as a couple was quite negative due to one person constantly relying on the other, and because they formed a joint opinion that was disproportionate to the host's opinion.

It was our first negative experience on the platform, to the point that we left before the deadline due to lack of respect and personal attacks by the host. The site is isolated and has no internet signal at all; communication with the host is done by a radio that works when it wants. To leave or enter the site you must cross a river, which was not announced beforehand.
The host picked us up in Lençóis but refused to drop us off there on the way back, saying that it would be very tiring and troublesome to leave us where she picked us up. We had no choice because there were no transportation options in the area.

Isabela replied

Hardworking volunteer, but extremely dependent on his partner. The challenges described are normal in rural areas. The river crossing was simply a waterlogged crossing, for which they refused to wet their feet or their boots. They demanded a change of accommodation due to Internet, which was promptly provided by the host, leaving the couple staying in a chalet. They did not accept the ratings for adjusting the relationship, choosing to interrupt the experience.
