Spent a month volunteering at the shelter—a deeply rewarding experience, though prospective volunteers should know what to expect. Highlights: Unforgettable time with the elephants (guiding tours & watching them), wonderful volunteer group, and delicious fresh Thai food daily. Drawbacks: Basic lodging with severe dampness/mold (affecting clothes). Management was unsupportive and dismissed our concerns regarding unexplained pricing discrepancies. Verdict: An incredible experience with the animals—just bring a self-sufficient mindset
