Volunteering at the guest house was one of the more unforgettable experiences I've ever had. Though there was work to do it never interfered with me wanting to explore or take overnight trips. Shotaro was very easy to talk to if you had issues or just wanted to chat about other things. I felt a part of a family immediately when I walked through the door. Biggest hearts !

Shotaro and the whole team at the guest house are lovely people! I had an amazing time there. They all welcomed me and we spent much time playing catan, sharing meals, and going to karaoke together. I am so grateful for the time I spent there! Matsumoto is the most gorgeous little town too - the perfect place to settle down for a little while and get in some amazing hikes, and soak up the natural scenery of the mountains and the lakes!

I spent one month at the guest house and had such a lovely time. I was shown around many cool places in Matsumoto and since I stayed in August there where many Matsuris I got to experience. Matsumoto is a beautiful city with a clear view of the mountains and is much cooler in summer than other cities like Tokyo. The place you'll be staying at is only 5 minutes away on foot and closely located to conbinis and a big mall that has everything you need and more. There are local restaurants all around with really cheap and delicious food. I made a lot of friends and would love to come back!

I had the most amazing time here. Shotaro and all the staff are super kind a welcoming and we all became good friends by the end!

The work was super chill and flexible. Three days on three days off and your days off are respected. I even needed to change my shifts one time and Shotaro was super quick to accommodate.

Furthermore being in Matsumoto is a super great base to travel to so many places like Suwa, Nagano, kamikochi and naraijuku. Having the flexible schedule is perfect for day or overnight trips :)

I hope to stay here when I come back!

I had such a lovely stay at the guest house. First things first, the host and other staffmembers are so kind and caring. They took me on cool adventures, taught me how to play catan and were always there when I had a question. The guesthouse is so cute and lovely, also really small and not too much work to take care of. Check-in is also a good opportunity to get in touch worh guests. Matsumoto is a great city; it has all the facilities of a big city while also being super close to the mountains and various parks. And not to forget, I had my own room, which I apprecited so much!
