The Experience

Recently, we realised that, in addition to traditional tasks in the garden or around the house, we would appreciate a sports-focused instructor (just for us or other volunteers), oriented also towards content creation, or an effective social media manager. Of course, we can make or post a Facebook post, but there is, for sure, a way to make it nicer, more attractive, more efficient, with larger reach and impact. Maybe you can help us with that.

I could help with tasks like cutting wood (for the wooden cooking stove), picking apples/pears, separating stones, setting up a huge tent, digging holes with a drill..
We used to have breakfast at around 9:30am then start the work around 10:30am. Counting with the breaks for snacks and lunch, we usually finished the working day around 5pm-7pm.

The nearest bus stop is around 40min walking from the farm.

The family is very friendly, funny and communicative, we were almost 24/7 together sharing experiences and stories so I felt really part of the family. I 100% recommend the opportunity

The experience was incredible. I was able to learn about plants, herbs and traditional Slovakian dishes with Barbora, and also learn about carpentry and general construction, as well as maintenance and building work in the garden with Michal, who was very patient in explaining things and guiding me apart, of course, from the times when we played games devised by his children, aged between 3 and 6, and I was able to play with the children, and our mealtimes together made for an incredible experience for me

I wanted a place in nature, to enjoy the forrest and fresh air and I definitely got it. The hosts were genuinely lovely people. I always had a choice of work. I was working mainly with fire wood, building a tower from the freshly chopped logs and restoring an old table. The environment was very peaceful. The sleeping arrangements were like for a queen. The highlight was milking a cow and tasting different chilli sauces with our meals.

My experience in the farm was nothing short of amazing!! The whole family has a natural skill of teaching everything they now with the greatest passion and patience. I learned a lot, I listened and felt listened to. Moreover, the wonderful hosts, Barbora and Michal, were so generous and supportive, not to mention with an impeccable humour, that I would trade a life without running water and electricity just to keep having conversations with them and learning about everything they have to say (even if they have those services a month from now). A huge thank you to this lovely family!

Charlotte and me stayed for 10 days at the farm. We felt like a part of the family, could learn much about Slovakia and Czech Republic and helped cooking Haluschka, a slovakian dish. The work was nice and Barbara and Michal always made sure that we felt good while working. We learned how to saw trees, to pile fire wood and to restore an old table. Living in nature without running water was new and inspiring for us and we enjoyed taking a "rainwater shower" in the garden :)

Overall, it was a great experience and we will always remember the lovely family. Thank you for everything!
