I stayed for three months because they repeatedly asked me to extend my stay and said they were happy with my work. However, I was suddenly asked to leave with almost no notice. Later that same day, they asked me to stay and work because they had no replacement. During my stay, some agreements about working hours, days off and responsibilities were not respected. I also experienced a lack of organization and professionalism. I learned a lot, but overall I felt there was a lack of respect, communication and responsibility toward volunteers.

I stayed about 15-20 days volunteering and it was a very calm experience. What was agreed was fulfilled and everything happened as had been agreed. The house is very good and comfortable and the location is great, especially because it's close to Macumba Beach, which is very beautiful. It was a positive experience with no major problems during the stay 😊 I miss you, Marola 🐈<3

My trip to the guest house-surf was incredible! The project is still bio-integrating, and it counts on the care and love of everyone who passes by there. Its mission, with resilience, is to promote through joy, culture and art in community on Macumba Beach! I could enjoy yoga classes every day, surfing and percussion, with amazing teachers!!! The work is very calm, basically being at the reception to assist with the rental of boards and we take care of the lovely little house next to the beach! Gratitude to ANNE and LUCAS for the open hearts that embraced me and inspired my most impossible dreams! a guest house <3

My experience was very enriching, the location is incredible just a few steps from the beach. Recreio surprised me a lot, as it is a much quieter area and different from downtown Rio de Janeiro; you can feel an atmosphere of peace, disconnection, and a lot of daytime life. The facilities are comfortable, the work is relaxed and flexible, whenever I needed something, I received support and help, I felt very well welcomed during the experience. In addition to volunteering, I had the opportunity to improve my Portuguese, learn to surf, and practice yoga almost every day ☺️🏄‍♀️ I recommend it!

The guest house is a space that is in its early steps, so some processes and details of volunteering (and the functioning of the house, in general) are still being drawn. During my more than a month here, we went through several moments: some calmer, others chaotic, but surely it is an experience that taught me a lot. I could enjoy the Recreio neighborhood (which is delightful), the yoga classes and the percussion classes (wonderful! I discovered a new hobby/passion). The house is very good and well located. Come with an open heart to be part of the construction of a place that is just starting
