The Experience

We're looking for a friendly, responsible, and reliable volunteer to join our team as a Night Reception Volunteer. As the face of the hostel during the night, you'll ensure our guests feel welcome, safe, and well taken care of. Previous reception or customer service experience is a plus, but it's not required. Tasks are simple, schedules are respected, and there is flexibility to take days off.
See you soon!!! 🫂😉

Volunteering at the hostel's was a great experience the work was super chill and the vibe is really relaxed. Get like my boundaries were respected and the facilities were comfortable and I had everything I needed :) Burcu and faruk were supportive of some unexpected changes and the expectations for work were clear. Also nice to have animals around, but UFO could work on her social skills a bit. The location is nice too! Thanks :))))

I had amazing experience in the hostel. The vibe, the staff and location of hostel is great to experience the center of Istanbul, especially the night-life and to connect with travelers from around the world. There are not that many things to do but it is important to pay attention for details and being social person, engage other travelers to get to know each other, showing initiative. I can totally recommend this experience to other the hostel!

Volunteering at the hostel Backpacker Hostel was a beautiful experience that I will carry with me. I made genuine friendships, practiced my English every day, learned a lot about hostel management, and truly enjoyed life in the amazing city of Istanbul. The hostel is calm, cozy, and perfectly located, a place that really feels like home. Saying goodbye to the staff (Faruk, Burcu, Faith the hostel and Kebab hahaha) and fellow volunteers (Ana) was not easy, but girls, remember that you can always "stand under my umbrella". Hope to see you guys soon! Mi casa es su casa! Love you all :)

Disorganised hostel causing many problems for guests that I couldn't solve. I was respected but never really felt welcomed. Communication was poor, Faruk never replied on WhatsApp, training was rushed + I didn’t feel supported. Extra duties weren’t mentioned beforehand, feedback didn’t seem welcome + problems were often left for volunteers to deal with. Staff didn't seem to care about problems, a leak left a room damp, musty + mouldy, the wet ceiling fell on a bed + guests said the air left them congested, not healthy, staff still checked people in. Can't fit everything message me 4 more info!
